Thursday Three Hundred: Gorgeous Post War Traditional Feels Like a Mid-Mod Inside, See For Yourself Sunday

I love it when a remodel gives me the shivers.

Just from looking at the amazing photos of 6265 Towhnill Lane, I got a little tingle in my toes. The current owner has poured a lot of love (and money!) into this gem of a post war traditional in the Meadows, which feels like a midcentury modern on the inside.

Built in 1957, this gem of a house has some really great details. The sloped picture window in front is an eye-catcher, as is the full-light front door. No avoiding a visit from the Jehovah’s Witnesses, though. Not sure how I would feel about giving up the comfort of having a peep-hole to hide behind, but oh well!

Everything inside the home — the paint, the floors, the lighting, the cabinetry — feels brand-spanking new and immensely tasteful. The openness achieved by essentially joining the kitchen and living areas makes this house great for families and entertaining.

The huge fireplace is just gorgeous. For a while I was noticing a disturbing trend among homeowners — painting brick fireplaces. While some people can make it look decent, more of then not it looks like a tacky disaster. This one is just pristine, with some really interesting accent lighting above the mantel that sets off the paneling that runs from the walls up to the ceiling. The exposed beams are the icing on the cake!

The master suite is beautiful, sexy, and sleek. Check out the his-and-hers wardrobes with glossy black doors. There’s a sliding glass door that opens the bedroom to the back patio, which is a really great feature!

The master bath is practically new, too, with dark wood vanities and extra storage. There’s a full-size shower and soaking tub, too.

The backyard, well, there’s no pool. That kind of bums me out. I would say that this house is absolutely perfect in every way, but the lack of a pool just kind of makes my shoulders sag. If you’re a smart cookie (and I know you are, because you’re reading this blog!) you’ll have a custom pool expert come in and give you an estimate before closing!

Want to take a look inside? This home, marketed by Ebby’s own Holt Barber, is open Saturday Aug. 26 from 1 to 3 p.m.

Just looked it up. At this price putting in a pool would not break the bank! It's a steal with all the upgrades and it's sitting in the middle of yet another unsung neighborhood that deserves a lot more attention!

Another great find, Jo! Stop torturing me with things I cannot have!

I thought of Candy last night when I saw this listing. Love what they have done in the kitchen. Made it light, bright and open to the living room and used every bit of space to maximize storage. That and the updated bathrooms make this home a home run.
