Psychometer: Everyone Is Talking About This University Park Home

Share News:

This home is a real head-scratcher. 7225 Turtle Creek. On the corner of Stanford and Turtle Creek, the neighborhood is chock full of stately McMansions and charming Hansel and Gretel cottages.

December 2010

Then, there’s this. The home was sold in December 2010 for $960,000, list $995,000 reduced from $1,069,000. The home was remodeled and is now on the market for… grab the smelling salts… $2,295,000. I am not “you know what-ing” you. MLS says remodeled, exclusive Turtle Creek one of a kind property  prime area of University Park, yeah yeah yeah. Corner Lot. Residence has been remodeled with open floor plan, marble floors, beautiful wood floor dining area, granite, island kitchen, appliances, AC units (I should hope so for $2.295M) , 2 patio’s, and first floor master.

I peaked in the front window, looks like my mother’s white carpet on the floor from Carpet Express and a wall of mirrors. Oh the ceiling was so gilded I thought maybe someone had torn down the Palmer House in Chicago. Methinks this house has been made up more than the salesladies in the cosmetics department at Neimans. Interiors remind me of the house in My Big Fat Greek Wedding, check them out. And what did we do, slap some paint on the exterior red brick, call it a day? Where’s my requisite stone, baby, and I don’t mean those dirty fake columns?

Know the best thing about this home? Owner financing.

My house is better designed, appointed, likely the same size and has wonderful landscaping. It has been my project for 6 years. If someone want's to pay us $2.295M for it we can be moved out over the weekend! Incredible!!!

How much of an allowance will they give me to put the house back to the way it was?

Somebody with money and no taste, Ouch !
If I were the owners insurance agent I would be watchful for an arsonist scenario to collect some moneys to get out of this mess

I have seen some of the "stuff" you like. It's pretty ironic for you to criticize anyone's "taste"

This looks like a house one of the Real Housewives of New Jersey would live in. Way over done and totally gauche. Blech.

With the original red brick and the orange tile roof, mixed with the columns, the story in the neighborhood was that it looked like it was designed by a first semester architecture class. UGLY!

Whether or not it suits to taste… You can not put $100-200K into a house and raise the asking price by $1.2 Mil. The value just isn't there.
