It’s hard work being a home inspector, and some days are harder than others. Homeowners don’t always set you up for success. Roofs and crawlspaces can be dangerous. Home inspectors often find themselves facing things that are treacherous, mindboggling, or icky. It does take a certain kind of person to embark on home inspection as a career, but much like cowboys, we find it’s worth it in the end.

Here are some days that were hard for a home inspector:

When You’re Just Trying to Get in The Door, But…

Looks like they may have had some flooding in the recent rains. Gas meters are required to be at least 78 inches high, with a minimum of 6 inches between the bottom of the equipment and the ground. Since this one is half-buried, it would not be currently up to code.
