When it comes to before-and-after photos, you know that we can’t say no. In this space, we love seeing what a home previously looked like and what it looks like after going through a total transformation. It’s just so fun to see how, with a little imagination, paint, style, and elbow grease, a homeowner can totally change the look and feel of their home.

What Goes Around Comes Around

Now some of you might be thinking, “It’s not nice to make fun of homes that might not be totally current and trendy,” and you have a point. We would never ever make fun of people or their individual tastes, but we certainly enjoy poking fun at previous styles and trends and areas in a home we all once thought was a good idea.

Be honest: How many of you out there grew up with a dining room painted a shade of red? Yeah, me too. How many remember when kitchen counters were 6″ x 6″ tiles? Not only did I live in that home but it was a brand new home in the ’90s that had those installed. Who in their right mind thought that grout lines would wear well all over a kitchen counter? One pasta sauce or wine spill later and it’s a mess.

Therefore, we will always enjoy pointing out styles and items in a home that just were a bad idea, and we will always highlight the refreshing transformation that has taken place in the home. It’s magic!

Don’t worry, I’m sure in about five to 10 years we will be poking fun at white quartz kitchen counters, white floors, white walls, and who knows what else. We will all be clamoring for sinks to look like seashells once more. One thing I know from being in the real estate world for almost 20 years is that styles come back around.

Today’s updated property takes us to the Crest Point neighborhood off Boat Club Road by Eagle Mountain Lake. While the home is not situated directly on the lake, there is a boat dock just a few steps away to enjoy the splish splash of the lake water, the home and community have the relaxed and carefree spirit of lake living.

Yes there was a time when carpet in the living and dining rooms felt like a good idea. There was also a time when carpet in the bathroom made sense … no idea why. Today, homeowners are utilizing the flooring materials available to them such as engineered wood or luxury plank vinyl to bring rich colors to warm the room instead of carpet that is only going to get stained and dingy.

Knowing When Before is Better

What’s great about this home and the transformation it has experienced is that there are areas that the current owner didn’t touch because they were already gems. The enclosed sunroom is one of those areas. Instead of replacing or removing the brick flooring or walls, everything remained, which was already a perfect area to enjoy and look at the backyard and pool.

Another area is the outdoor living area and pool. Plenty of trees give the yard a nice shade and make the pool area a wonderful place to cool off and relax during the warmer times of the year if you don’t feel like heading out to the lake.
