It’s All About The Details For This Elmwood Cottage With a Love Story

Share News:

Elmwood is located in the center of Oak Cliff. It’s full of dedicated neighbors committed to growing their community and supporting the local businesses that also call Elmwood home such as Wax Space, Olmo Market, Pizza Fritta, and one day — HOPEFULLY — Graph Coffee.

Plus, the Elmwood neighborhood association has a really cute logo. It’s hip, it’s trendy. It’s a neighborhood full of Tudors and Craftsman-style homes.

And then there’s this little cuteness in the neighborhood that just hit the market. It’s incredibly charming with three bedrooms and one-and-one-half bathrooms, and the price tag? Reasonable. What what?

*Spit take*

Roger Lopez of Value Properties was in charge of the remodel and as Dave Perry-Miller Real Estate’s Emily Ruth Cannon pointed out, here at CandysDirt.com, we’re kind of fans. Peep his work here and here.

Lopez has a knack for updating a space without disrupting the charm and this one is no exception. Also, how green is that grass, right? Like a real Turf Builder party over there.

Elmwood Cutie Has Great Details

Let’s see what other little nuggets I can share about this one.

There’s a great debate on the color of the front door. I say it’s a cayenne peppery color and Canon said in real life it’s in the pink/red/salmon fam. She pointed out that the entire exterior follows a specific color scheme and even has copper gutters to complement it.

Inside, bring it with the original hardwoods and floor-to-ceiling windows in the living room and front bedroom, which would also make a perfect office if you want to gaze longingly outside instead of paying attention to whatever Zoom call you’re on.

There’s a cedar pergola in the back and a fantastically landscaped backyard, and of course, there’s a story to that. Canon sold the house next door (and the one next to that one, too). Prior to the remodel there was a single guy living in this house. He was an avid gardener. As was the single lady next door. As they discovered their mutual love of growing things, they eventually took down the fence between the yards and created one mega backyard. Then they fell head over heels and moved into the house next door, selling this one to Lopez. Now it’s ready for the next owner and has some clearly magical vibes. Along with the very clean midcentury lines you see before you.

Canon has 1703 Lansford Avenue listed for $385,000 and will be hosting an open house this Saturday, April 8, from 1 to 3 p.m.
