Over in Elmwood, it Doesn’t Get Any Cuter Than This Fresh-Faced Cottage

She’s real cute. A muted lavender front door with neutral siding and a pop of cedar is just the start of the good things that are headed your way as we take a word tour of this cottage.

It’s over in Elmwood, where everyone knows your name and there’s already been a public outcry about this resident headed out. It’s tight-knit, gang, and they don’t like to let go.

But whoever snags this adorable three-bedroom, two-bathroom home better buy a lottery ticket because they’re clearly on a winning streak.

Remodeled in 2017, you’ll find things in this cottage you don’t see in a lot of homes at this price point. Smooth, museum walls, granite countertops, cabinets that go all the way to the ceiling in the kitchen, and a cabinet casing around the refrigerator. It’s a small detail but adds a ‘y’ to the end of class. Plus, it hides the magnetic sides so you can keep it clean and clutter-free. Sorry ’bout ya, postcards.

You know what else you get with this house? A massive backyard, with a shed, which is exceptionally rare in Elmwood. (The big backyard, not the shed. It’s a real shed-fest over there. And yes, I made that up.) AND a horizontal cedar fence and guess what else? The owner is willing to add an electronic gate and carport before closing, too. I’ll let Dave Perry-Miller’s Emily Cannon help you hash out the deets.

Let’s just put this out there — this owner knows color. What a great use in the furniture and art and it proves what I’ve learned the hard way: Keep it neutral and clean on the walls and floor and let that throw pillow be your guide. I’m not entirely sure if I said it or World Market did, but it sounds legit.

The bathrooms really drive it home on simplicity being the best policy. Again, certain that’s a phrase. They’re neutral, both with floating cabinet vanities, and white subway tile in the shower. Then BAM, here comes some unexpected stripes of gray. It’s like a surprise party in the dang shower.

The final finishing touch that’s elegant? Crown molding, fools. Delightful.

Much like the rest of the houses for sale right now, 1718 Berkley Avenue is under contract. (It was listed for $335,000.)

But keep your eyes peeled because there will no doubt be another one. Let’s just hope she’s as cute.
