This Stellar Gun Barrel City Home Has Lake Views And Lots of Updates

Gun Barrel City, pew pew. It’s the only city in the country with that name. You can double-check. This according to local Realtor and local expert, Keller Williams’ Jamye Montgomery. She’s lived there since 2003 and when it comes to Texas lakes and lake houses, lake fronts, and cities that surround them, she knows her stuff.

Before she settled on Gun Barrel City as her home, she did an exhaustive two-year personal search of Texas waterfronts. She’s from Odessa, did some time in Houston, and then wound up in Las Vegas of all places when she started to miss home and headed back.

Now she’s here and she has a killer listing right on the lake with two boat slips, a full-on remodel, and lots of insider info.

Montgomery sold this house to her client several years ago so she’s had an eyewitness account of the transformation. She said when they purchased the home there was an enormous rock fireplace that while quite lovely, totally blocked the view of the lake. When her gal got to work, it was the first thing she removed. She then opened up the space between the living room and dining room and got to work adding thoughtful updates throughout.

Montgomery said the rooms in this one are large and the layout is wonderful. Pretty much a mandatory when you live at the lake because, with that view, family and friends will be popping in and staying a bit.

What does she personally love about Gun Barrel City? There’s just nothing like it. There’s the water, of course, and the quaint small town. Montgomery said there are lots of local shops and restaurants she loves like Hector’s for Mexican, BnR Country (in Mabank) for classic American fare, and The W Haus Decor & More for when you’re feeling shop-y. Inside W Haus, there’s also W456 Upscale Dining for when you need a Dallas fix. Very chic. Very posh. Very “Hey, let’s celebrate ourselves and put on some sequins tonight!!”

My point is, if you purchase 116 Redondo Drive, currently listed for $900,000, you get an incredible three-bedroom, four-bathroom home with a wall of windows and an upstairs entertaining deck that’s far removed from the hustle and bustle the rest of us knuckleheads are currently enduring.
