Get Into Los Arboles While the Getting Is Good

Los Arboles… translation: The Trees. That pretty much sums up everything you need to know about the tranquil and secluded neighborhood just east of Preston Forest Shopping Center off of Forest Lane.

Mature live oaks (the arboles of which we speak) abound along with other species, and several ponds punctuate the community’s 30 acres, making it the ultimate haven for those who prefer their luxury with a healthy side of security and privacy. Many residents say it’s a well-kept secret, and they’re just fine to keep it that way.

If you’ve been lucky enough to receive an invitation to a fancy soiree from an owner within, then congrats – you’re in the know! But otherwise, you were either totally unaware of this gem or perhaps wistfully intrigued by what those custom homes on the other side of the gated wall might be like.

Well, not only can you see what they look like with an agent and an appointment, you can experience for yourself what it’s like to live there. There are currently five homes for sale, which is a lot at one time considering these homes rarely turn. That’s roughly one-sixth of the 31 architect-designed homes set on spacious .5- to 1.25-acre estate lots. And four of them are represented by DPMRE agents.

So if the world today has you thinking about escaping to a retreat within a haven, now’s the time.

30 Robledo Drive

Not long ago, we featured this fully renovated 7,062 sq. ft. Tudor-style home staged by George Bass Stage & Design, but it’s definitely worth another look. Sharon Redd is the listing agent for this one.

“It was taken off the market in 2021 to be lightened, brightened and generally spectacularized,” Redd says, “and we think the strategy had the intended effect — wow! It is everything today’s buyer wants and more.“

And the homeowner leaves a glowing recommendation about their experience. “Los Arboles is one of the most coveted, majestic and secure communities in Dallas. We all take pride in our homes, and it shows throughout. You won’t find anything like it anywhere else.”

So if you are looking for serene and comfortable living with a lakeside view and a pool, this four-bedroom, 6.2-bath home with five living areas definitely fits that bill. Priced at $5,749,000.

5 Robledo Drive

Builder Bob Thompson and Architect Robbie Fusch conspired on this impeccable one-owner home, so you know it embodies two things: timelessness and quality. Adjacent to a pond with fountains and a bridge, you’d be hard-pressed to find more beautiful views to gaze upon from your primary suite, great room or outdoor living room and pool.

The interior comprises 8,382 square feet with four bedrooms, 4.2 baths, three living areas and five fireplaces. There are two primary suites, with one downstairs and one upstairs.

Listing agent Patricia Massey says, “The current owners were among the first to build and live here. They realized early on what an exceptional place Los Arboles was. They have maintained this home with great care, and are ready to pass it along to someone who values the beauty and privacy available as they did.”

The home is priced at $5,299,000 and furnishings are negotiable.

2 Manzano Circle

While Robledo Drive is the main road in Los Arboles, there are a few hidden pockets of four or five homes with Manzano being one of them. Evelyn Ponder is the listing agent for this beauty.

Coming in at a spacious 6,796 square feet, the interior features four bedrooms, 4.2 baths, two living areas and two fireplaces. The front and back yards are quite large – it’s a .626-acre lot on a cul-de-sac, after all – and it has a pool.

“I think the fact that the owner is another original resident is such a testament to what it’s like to live here,” Ponder says. “These don’t come available often and the fact that we have four for sale right now says to me it’s time for a new generation to have their turn.”

The home is priced at $3,950,000.

31 Robledo Drive

Massey also has another Los Arboles listing just down the street. Built in 1993, it has a magical drive-up with its circular drive, pond with fountain, gas lanterns and double front doors. Set on one acre, this more traditionally styled home with pool is another one-owner residence with amazing luxury details that have withstood the test of time.

“With the right eyes, it’s easy to imagine what could be,” Massey says. “This home is a blank canvas inside, and can be the dream home of some lucky buyer.”

It also has four bedrooms, 4.3 baths, four living areas and four fireplaces in 7,597 sq. ft., and is priced at $3,895,000.

It seems unusual that there are so many properties for sale at Los Arboles. Is there any particular factor driving that?
