Charming New Renovation Zoned for Terrific DA Hulcy STEAM

HulcyDallas ISD school board trustee Joyce Foreman has a lot to brag about in her district these days, and that includes DA Hulcy STEAM Middle School.

“I certainly think there are some good stories about schools in Southwest Oak Cliff,” Foreman told us. “We recently turned an elementary school into a TAG Magnet, there is a new Two-Way Dual Language School, and we have a STEAM middle school that is doing well.  We also have a number of elementary schools that consistently do well.”

And we’ve highlighted some of those schools — Birdie Alexander, McNair, and Mark Twain elementaries — in previous School+House features. But this week, we’ve headed to the neighborhoods closest to Hulcy, where students are thriving and succeeding in a period of adolescence that can sometimes be a bit tough — middle school.

“Hulcy was a closed campus that reopened as a ‘STEAM’ school and is a great choice school because of its great academic environment along with its 2-mile radius attendance boundary that brings students from the immediate community,” Foreman said.

Hulcy’s academic rigor is clear — it earned a sold B score from the Texas Education Agency this year, meeting state standards with five out of seven distinctions — one of the best results of any Dallas ISD middle school.

And we found an adorable Midcentury Ranch zoned for both Birdie Alexander (which we have featured before) and close to Hulcy. Located at 6912 Clearglen Drive, this three-bedroom, two-bath home has been recently updated and is family-ready.

How so? It has two living areas (necessary for anyone looking to have a grown-up space and a family space), and it has an office space, perfect for anyone who works from home, or perhaps needs a space for hobbies.

Easy-to-care for laminate flooring is present throughout the home, and everything has gotten a spruce-up. In the U-shaped kitchen, stainless steel appliances and fresh tile make the smaller space feel a bit bigger.

The second living area has a wood-burning fireplace and a wet bar, making it a great family room.

Outside, the rear driveway ends at a covered, two-car carport. The fenced backyard has a shed and, thanks to a lot of mature trees, is a shady respite.

The home is priced at $216,900, and is listed by Sesha Gorantla with Anycenter Realty.
