Inwood Mortgage Home of the Week: Raise & Roam Your Free-Range Turkey in this Luxe South Lindhurst Santa Barbara Spread

Let’s face it: people in Santa Barbara do eat turkey. But the turkey they eat is different from the $1.99 a pound Butterball you and I might consume. It is free-range, hormone-free, stress-free, anti-biotic free,  gluten free (no carbs, wow these birds have more willpower than I do) and of course, preservative free. The little angels are vegetarian fed, and have the run of the range, which makes me wonder: does that pre-death kindness neutralize the poultry so if you are a vegetarian you can still consume their white flesh?

So why not have your own little piece of paradise where you can grow and free-roam your own turkeys, chickens, ducks, and whip it all into a nice turducken for Thanksgiving?

And now, you can have it for less!

4630 South Lindhurst has been reduced like we will all want our waistlines to be on Friday: $2,095,000, down from a whopping $2,295,000. I love this home because it is on a quiet, family-friendly, dead end lane right off the hustle and bustle of Strait Lane, perfect for those learning to ride a bike, drive a car, and pretend that they live in Santa Barbara. True fact: we almost bought a home on South Lindhurst in, oh, 1998. This is back when the market was steaming up, kind of like now. We went to Europe, came home and the lot was gone. Vamoosh. Kicked myself all the way to Tokyo.

In fact, I have always thought that the Lindhursts were BETTER than Strait Lane because they are off the beaten path and much more private.

This home looked like the Ponderosa before her clients got ahold of it, says darling listing agent Jennifer Jackson Lelash of Dave Perry Miller. Designer Bambi Bratton Design of Austin tamed the Wild West interiors to California transitional, creating a one story ranch among the estates with interior walls “in the most serene whisper of a robin’s egg blue.”

“Having lived in California for 10 years I always try to find that “space” in Dallas that transports me back,” says Jennifer.

Lindhurst there is a panoramic view of the entire back yard with doors opened to let the verdant outside in. I found that familiar “space”. The mental vacation. It’s not contrived, not faux or Disneyland-esque.”

Yes, this is what I see in this home — thoughtful and family friendly with a sophisticated twist. The masculine office — you know the type — was transformed into a luxurious, intimate conversation area, much like a boutique hotel lobby. And that kitchen is to-die for, especially today!

Sturdily built in 1961, the home has a family room, formals, and library plus full quarters above a 3 car garage. If 4300 square feet is not enough, there is plenty of room to add on or build up. Pocket doors provide easy escape to the magnificent outdoor living consisting of a pergola, pool, and glorious yard. Never fear West Nile or the August sun: the yard is covered with a mosquito misting system and the little tykes’ playhouse is air conditioned.

Asking is, again, $2,095,000 down a whole $200,000 if I am doing my math correctly. And that’s plenty of cash for a heater — $59 at Costco. I’m sure the folks at Inwood Mortgage will throw one into the mortgage deal, NO PROBLEM!
