We’ve Seen Dirk’s and Jason’s, well What About Mark Cuban’s Real Estate?

Share News:

He owns a whole lot of Preston Hollow. In fact, last year when the Dallas City Council raised taxes and ruffled my feathers, I thought about calling Mark to ask for help with getting Preston Hollow to divorce from the city of Dallas. But then I remembered, he likes to pay taxes. First of all, before we look at his Dallas properties, take a peak at this story about Mark from his hometown newspaper, the Pittsburg Tribune-Review. (Cuban was born and raised in Mt. Lebanon, PA.) You can always tell so much about people by taking a peak at their home town and how folks view them there. Did they burn any bridges on their way up? From the piece, Cuban seems to be pretty well liked and respected, rooted in Pittsburgh-bred values, and is being lauded the world over for graciously allowing the Mavericks’ founder, Don Carter, to be the first to receive the Larry O’Brien Trophy from NBA commissioner David Stern at Sundays’ game.

“People might have been surprised by that, but it was 100 percent in character for Mark,” childhood friend Todd Reidbord said. “He’s the most loyal guy I know.”

How many billionaires remain close to their childhood friends? Cuban does. Is. Jerry Katz, an elementary school friend, says that while Mark has always been brash, he has always ben caring and sincere. And that side of Mark came out this time. Childhood chums Katz and Todd Reidbord were at Cuban’s wedding. They attended Game 3 of the Finals in Dallas, watching from a luxury suite with Cuban’s brothers and in-laws. Both friends say they “choked up when seeing TV cameras catch Cuban, 52, greeting his wife, two daughters and son outside the Mavericks’ dressing room after the victorious Game 6.”

And Cuban arranged an internship for Katz’ son, Teddy.

Cuban and his wife, Tiffany and kiddos live on DeLoache in the honeypot of Preston Hollow in a GORGEOUS 23,676 square foot estate on 6.83 acres behind locked gates — there was a guard patrolling the property this afternoon when I drove by after going to the grocery store –¬† that he bought in 1999. The estate was built by Shariff and Munir, but it was not a custom build out for Cuban, though he later made all the changes he wanted to make. The home was custom built in 1997 for Dan and Merlene Phillips, who, when it was almost completed, decided it was too much and put it on the market. Dave Perry-Miller handled the sale. (I know when I go do the dishes I’ll remember how much he paid.) The Phillips have been a very generous family to The Greenhill School. I was told by one of the designers that the Phillips cut way back on finish-out towards the end, but when Cuban bought the home he regaled it with higher end materials.

I only became aware recently of all of Cuban’s Preston Hollow properties.¬†And I did not know he owned all this land near Northwest Highway and Douglas. Interesting. He pays more than a half a million in Dallas property taxes: $517,820.94 just on the Preston Hollow props.

Wowzers.
