Michelle Blackburn of Dave Perry-Miller has listed 4734 Elsby Ave for $589,900.

Who doesn’t love a house with a red door? That’s how agent Michelle Blackburn of Dave Perry-Miller Preston Center pitched us this Briarwood beauty through our new Facebook forum, “Getting The Dirt.” Blackburn says the three-bedroom, two-bathroom charmer is “cozy and ready for all stages of life…for a buyer that is beginning their homeownership experience or a downsizing, low maintenance buyer ready to simplify!”

And it’s a perfect fit for our Friday Five Hundred. We adore the heavily treed lot and bright red door, but the real show starts once you step inside!

Briarwood Cottage 5011 Stanford Ave a
As soon as we peeked past the screen door of this sophisticated Briarwood cottage we knew we were in for a treat, and so are you. It’s filled with character, charm, and clever design elements. Just as we expected, it’s the home of a very talented interior designer, Lisa Henderson. It’s clear to see she’s taken a fresh approach to classic European style with an emphasis on comfort. Let’s just say, if Kate and William were searching for interior design help, they’d be very pleased with Henderson’s taste and talent.

5007 Purdue AvenueIf you want to know the hottest trend in home design, we have the answer. This Briarwood modern farmhouse at 5007 Purdue Avenue ticks all the boxes and then some. It’s an absolutely gorgeous 1939 home that has been remodeled to perfection by listing agent Lindsay Hagan with Ebby Halliday. (more…)

5127 Amherst IHOTW

I am so into charming, chic cottages this week. Perhaps it’s the weather — these cottages remind me of Maine and cooler temps. This little Briarwood charmer caught my eye because of the picket-fence appeal, the “adorableness”, and the great landscaping. Lo and behold, turns out the home is owned by a landscape designer. No wonder everything looks so perfect.

5118 Stanford Ave. in 2013

In January 2013, my Hubby and I were frantically looking for a house as our Preston Hollow condo was under contract in 3 days to a cash buyer (HOORAY!!!). I fell in love the minute I saw this Briarwood cottage and the For Sale sign out in front of 5118 Stanford Avenue.

I am dying over these pics. The San Francisco Globe published these amazing photos of an untouched 1956 PINK kitchen filled with vintage GE appliances that have never been used! The home’s owner, furniture designer Nathan Chandler, bought the home in 2010 and posted the photos on FLICKR to sell the vintage kitchen. It’s unclear why the prior owners had the home essentially sealed. Though it has allegedly sold, I was so tempted to buy a cottage in Briarwood that I’ve had my eyes on and install this kitchen!

Real Estate Story

We love hearing from our readers, and nothing makes us happier than emails from folks who are moving to Dallas who tell us what a valuable resource CandysDirt.com is for their home search. We’ve heard such wonderful stories from buyers and sellers and folks who are relocating about how this here little website helped them navigate the real estate landscape of North Texas.

So we were just beaming when Brian Feitcher, VP of National Sales at Fusion Logistics, sent us this note:

“Just wanted to send a quick note to let you know how much I love your site!  I am in the process of moving to Dallas from Philadelphia and have been checking your site multiple times a day for the past few months.  Love the new layout and the multiple daily updates.

Just bought a home in Briarwood and we’re excited to move down to the big D!”

Of course, we had to ask Brian to tell us his real estate story, and he was kind enough to share! Jump to find out more about Brian’s home search and his big move to Dallas:

The master suite, which is on the second floor, is a great size. The bedroom is 22 x 14, which is just perfect for a retreat! The ceilings are just incredibly tall, and thanks to some clerestory-type windows, you get plenty of light without worrying about privacy. The master bath has double sinks and a shower/tub combo.
