Monday Morning Millionaire: Viva La Vintage! Lakewood Show-Stopper Has History

By Joanna England / August 13, 2012 /

Personal taste is such a funny thing. When it comes to gorgeous homes I can’t afford, I feel like my personal taste swings wildly in all directions, and regardless of how different one house can be from the last luxury love affair, I still picture myself moving in.

With my affinity for Craftsman bungalows, modern architecture, and Texas prairie homes, why, oh why am I in love with 7210 Lakewood? The Clifford Hutsell-designed estate doesn’t even remotely fit into any of these categories, and yet there I am, trying to find a spot for my brass-footed dining table and my reading chair.

Hot Properties: Bryan and Amanda Crawford Are a One-Two Power Punch With Briggs Freeman

By Joanna England / August 6, 2012 /

Where are you from? If you’re not Dallas natives, what brought you to our fair burg? Amanda: I’m a Dallas native with a special place in my heart for the State-Thomas neighborhood in Uptown. Bryan: I’m from Hammond, a small town outside of New Orleans. After graduating college, I moved to Dallas to pursue a career in finance, progressing…

Thursday Three Hundred: A Two-story in Little Forest Hills That Isn’t So Little

By Joanna England / August 2, 2012 /

I love it when a master bedroom feels like a retreat — nay, a vacation. My requirements for a “retreat” include 1) an amazing bath tub, 2) a place where I can sip my coffee, and 3) there is more than one sizable window from which to view something other than my neighbor’s fence.

Not only does 9023 San Leandro have all three of my requirements, but it is in Little Forest Hills, one of my favorite Dallas neighborhoods. With 2,175 square feet, this three-bedroom, two-bath charmer is one of the larger cottages in Lakeland Terrace. And you can have it all and be right next to White Rock Lake for just $347,500!

Thursday Three Hundred: Junius Heights Craftsman Has 50 Shades of Gray Inside

By Joanna England / July 19, 2012 /

Gray is the hottest neutral right now, and I am loving how it’s just popping up everywhere and in every conceivable shade. All 50 of them.

Trashy adult novel puns aside, this gorgeous Junius Heights Arts and Crafts home is the perfect example of how neutral doesn’t mean boring. With all of the wonderful cool slate, marble, and pearl grays, all of the details stand out.

Tell Me Your Real Estate Story: After Remodeling Their Dream Home (Where They Also Got Married!), Dankesreiters Head For The Burbs

By Joanna England / July 18, 2012 /

What happens when you find your dream home, remodel it into your perfect home, and then something happens and you have to move?

It’s a huge struggle, says Duane Dankesreiter.

He and his wife own that gorgeous updated Tudor in Wilshire Heights we featured for our Friday Four Hundred last week. They still love the house (who wouldn’t!?) and are heartbroken about putting it on the market. But, family calls from the suburbs, and they are trying to sell the house they thought they’d stay in forever.
