The "Rose House" by Howard Meyer

The “Rose House” by Howard Meyer

We are just buzzing about this year’s Spring Modern Home Tour sponsored by Briggs Freeman Sotheby’s International Realty. This tour will feature some of the most incredible modern homes in Dallas and the Park Cities. Seriously, just phenomenal feats of architecture and design. It’s the brainchild of Jeff Levine of modmedia.net.

The tour will open four modern homes on May 17 for a self-guided perusal from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. and a portion of the proceeds will benefit the Dallas Architectural Forum. We just love this tour! And guess what! We here at CandysDirt.com have THREE PAIRS OF TICKETS to give away!

Want to win? Jump!

“Of particular interest, is the 1938 ‘Rose House’ designed by iconic Dallas architect Howard Meyer who was best known for 3525 Turtle Creek and Temple Emanu-El,” says Sharon Cooper. “This Highland Park home is one of the oldest surviving examples of Meyer’s modernist designs. Most of the original structure remains intact and features design touches no longer seen in today’s construction. It is not to be missed by true connoisseurs of mid-century design.”

Tickets are $20 per person in advance and $25 cash on the day of the tour. Children 12 and under are free. You can score tickets to the reception on Friday at Collage in the Design District for $50. Find out more at www.modernhometourdallas.com.

All you have to do to win a pair of tickets is comment below before 5 p.m. Thursday, May 15. We’ll draw names for the winners, who will each get a pair of tickets to this awesome home tour.

Maybe I’ll finally get to see your shining glory in person and add some shade to the scene! Did you take any additional photos during the tour of the Crow home? That day is one I kick myself in the buttock for missing!

Hello, Candy; Please enter my name in your generous ticket giveaway drawing. As you can ascertain from my address I’m an agent with Virginia Cook, Realtors. A quick, respectful piece of counsel regarding your narrative of the Gates meeting: twice you used an apostrophe in “it’s” when you should have simply written “its”. Your intent was not to mean “it is’, which “it’s” does. “Its” means possession, such as its owner or Dallas has its own zoo. I hope you are not offended by that. Thank you.
