Several years ago, a neighbor who lives one street over went all out for Christmas. Think National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation. It was spectacular. Christmas spirit galore.

The following year, two more neighbors joined him. Fast forward to the current day, nearly half the block is decked out for Christmas and they rent a lift to get the lights into the trees for everyone all at once. Every year another house or two joins in on the fun. It is a perfect example of the Christmas spirit spreading like wildfire.

It is one of the many reasons I love my neighborhood. As my neighbors work to make their homes festive, I can not help but wonder where else the Christmas spirit is out in full display.

As it turns out, my research has led me to the little town of Boerne located just five hours from Dallas/Ft. Worth. Not only do they have the right amount of Christmas spirit, they spread it out during the month of December for all to enjoy.

Starting this Thanksgiving weekend, the City of Boerne kicks off the holiday with Dickens on the Main. The fun continues on Dec. 5 and Dec. 6 with the Weihnachts Parade. Then the weekend of Dec. 12 and Dec. 14, is Kinder Fest which is centered around activities specifically for children.

Enjoying all the events would be a snap if we had a second home in Boerne. So being the helpful little elf that I am, I have found a wonderful home in the heart of Boerne, where you can have a place to relax after a day of fun.
