Is Addison’s Celestial Road the Best Kept Secret in Town?

If you’re looking for a luxury home and can’t seem to find the right one, perhaps you are not looking in the right place! There are plenty of what I like to think of as secret spots, and one of those is in Addison.
This sleek contemporary on Celestial Road, for instance, is about a third of the price you’d pay for similar square footage in Highland Park. It has more land, and it’s drop-jaw beautiful. Like I said, secret spot.
Back in the mid-1980s, Addison had an undeveloped area of about 23 acres bordered by Celestial Drive and Winnwood Road. Sharif-Munir-Davidson Co. parceled it out, calling the development Bellbrook Estates. Prices ranged from $500,00 to $1 million. That was very expensive back then. The surrounding homes are all on at least half an acre, and some, like this sleek contemporary, are on well over an acre.

Celestial Road hit my radar in 2021 for two very different reasons. One was a modern 2010 build owned by Don and Barbara Elliot Daseke known as the Teak House, which is mind-blowing. It sold in April. The other is an uber modern built on a 1970s foundation.
I went to have a look when luxury stager George Bass invited me while his team was working on it. I was more than surprised to find an almost-7,000-square-foot, very Miami vibe home with a Texas-sized shower you could easily use to wash a horse. Something exciting was clearly happening on Celestial Road, so when this contemporary came along, I was not surprised.
After finding a 1.33-acre vacant lot, which is rare these days, the owners hired Mark and Maurie Gray, founders of M. Gray Architecture, to help them create their dream home.
“The clients were very involved with the design and finish-out,” Mark said. “They came to us with some cool ideas.”
Entering through a private courtyard, the moment you step over the threshold, the wow factors don’t stop. The 7,754-square-foot home’s dramatic two-story living space features an 18-foot-tall window that overlooks the pool and backyard. It opens to the kitchen and dining area, just beyond which there are two massive floor-to-ceiling walls of glass.

“We put the vaulted family room to the side of the house to preserve the views from the living area,” Mark said. “The windows wrap around a center TV, and this room opens to the loggia.”
The dramatic windows continue throughout the house from the home’s office to the first-floor primary suite. It’s clear that natural light was an important factor in the design of this contemporary home.

Of course, we spend as much time outdoors as we possibly can when the weather permits in Texas, and every consideration was taken to make this backyard inviting. From the beautiful resort-style pool you see the moment you walk in the front door to a covered cabana and full outdoor kitchen, you may think you’ve got it all. But there’s more, of course. Stepping down a level, you will find what has become a necessity: a pickleball court!

As far as location goes, this sleek contemporary could not be better placed. It’s 10 minutes from Greenhill School, Trinity Christian Academy, The Westwood School, and Addison Airport. Love Field and DFW International Airport are only 20 minutes away. Like I said, Celestial Road seems to be the best-kept secret in town, until now!
