Share News:

The much-anticipated White Rock Home Tour returns on April 26 and 27, offering an exclusive peek into six remarkable homes that embody the diverse architectural charm of East Dallas. From the sleek lines of Midcentury Modern to the innovative designs of Contemporary living, this year’s tour promises an inspiring journey through time and style. Plus, one of these gems has a space age history in Hollywood!

“We are thrilled to recount the incredible journey of the White Rock Home Tour committee,” said Chanda Rousseau, Vice President of RJA Construction, LLC and this year’s tour chair. “Guided by the devoted leadership of enthusiastic volunteers, this team has diligently collaborated to craft a remarkable event that highlights the beauty and creativity of our community’s homes. Together, we are nurturing a sense of community and inspiring admiration for architectural artistry, while raising essential funds for Hexter Elementary.”

This year’s tour showcases an impressive lineup of homes, each with its own unique story and design philosophy. They include:

  • Two Midcentury Moderns: Discover the timeless elegance of Ju-Nel and Donald Speck’s designs, where form meets function in a harmonious blend.
  • New Multi-Generational Home: A modern sanctuary designed for connectivity, color, and life.
  • Little Forest Hills Renovation: A charming transformation that honors the neighborhood’s character.
  • Transitional New Build: Warm, inviting, and thoughtfully designed to facilitate aging in place, with breathtaking views of the creek and surrounding nature.
  • Contemporary Renovation/Addition: Airy, filled with natural light, and upgraded to meet the needs of modern family living.

Since 2011, CandysDirt.com has been writing about the White Rock Home Tour, but I think this Donald Speck Midcentury Modern on this year’s tour is truly out of this world. In 1967, this home on Rogue Way became the set for a made-for-TV, so-bad-its-good sci-film movie, “Zontar: The Thing from Venus.” (Oh, there’s a deep dive coming, don’t worry.)

Community Impact and Involvement

The White Rock Home Tour is more than just a celebration of architecture — it’s a community fundraiser aiming to raise $100,000 for the Hexter Elementary School PTA. As a long-time sponsor and community member, the home tour’s involvement stems from a passion for fostering community spirit and supporting local education. CandysDirt.com is a media sponsor of the 2025 White Rock Home Tour.
