Enjoy Year-Round Perfect Views at This Rockwall Country Oasis

“We didn’t just happen to capture this shot,” said Lori Ericsson, listing agent for this McDonald Road home in Rockwall. “The views are like this morning and evening every day, all year long.”
Sigh. And the views aren’t the only thing that will make you sigh about this Rockwall home on an acre and a half. I feel more relaxed just looking at that crystal clear pool and spa. I’ll tell you all about it in this week’s Highlight Home of the Week, sponsored by Lisa Peters, Senior Loan Officer with First Horizon.
A Rockwall Country Estate

“Many of our showings have come from people just driving by,” said Ericsson. “It’s such a beautiful home. People are really struck by it when they see it.”
With a crisp white brick exterior and grand arched windows, the home at 1998 McDonald really does stand out. The closest neighbor is a horse farm, and Ericsson says while the property is a spacious 1.5 acres, you can see the horses wandering about, so it feels like you’re in horse country without the trouble of caring for the horses. The neighborhood also features several other million dollar homes.
A Floorplan That Works

Enter through the stunning knotted wood and glass doorway to the living room, whose centerpiece is a massive brick fireplace. A wall of windows looks out on the patio and pool. Close the motorized shades on days when the heat and light are too much. The sleek stairs lead to a guest room and a massive game room that accesses a large outdoor deck.

The recently updated kitchen is generous and set up for all your entertaining and home cooking needs. And I particularly love this sort of partially-open set up because not everyone loves an open floor plan. “At this stage and price range when you’re entertaining, you’re often catering, so it’s nice to have that separation,” said Ericsson. “Also, just as people form conversation groups, it’s nice to have distinct spaces in the living, kitchen, and dining rooms where people can gather. I think it makes for an incredibly successful entertainment set up.”
There’s a pass-through window over the kitchen sink to the dining room, which is a lovely touch. And for day to day use, you simply can’t beat the breakfast nook overlooking the pool and view of the countryside. (below)

The dining room is sheer elegance with its own fireplace, beamed ceilings, and a splendid statement chandelier. The coordinating black beadboard makes this possibly my favorite room in the house — or it might be that pass-through. I love a pass-through like I love a hidden door. Not to be outdone by the living room and kitchen, you of course have views from the dining room as well!

The primary suite, as well as two additional bedrooms, are downstairs, because everything is easy in this house. Large and plentiful windows for tons of natural lights and — you guessed it — views. The recessed ceiling gives the room an extra bit of glamour, and the pristine, spa-like bath is a retreat unto itself.

Amazing Outdoors
Outdoors, well, just behold the oasis, the very, very private oasis, that is the backyard. Nothing but sunset and countryside, and your nearest neighbor is a couple of acres away. Sigh.

Last, but not least, there’s a barn! This barn is an empty palate to do with what you will. Could be uses for horses, or a workshop. Could be outfitted as a workout studio, office, mancave or she-shed. The opportunities are endless.

The time is ripe on this Rockwall country oasis that feels so far away from city life, but is actually only 22 miles from downtown Dallas. Ericsson has just reduced the price, so buyers will be calling.
David Griffin & Company’s Lori Ericsson has 1998 McDonald Rd. listed for $1.099 millions.
Stunning home!
