Peek Inside a Dazzling Classic Contemporary on Stunning Park Hill Ravine Perch

I was so tantalized when this Park Hill new build dropped in my mailbox that I had to check it out in person. It’s on a lush ravine double lot with stunning views — you can even glimpse the downtown skyline from one of the upstairs bedrooms. Park Hill has a rich legacy of classic 1920s-era grand houses but 2413 Lofton Terrace is in a niche with a cluster of similar newer constructions so the house blends into the landscape of mature trees and beautifully landscaped grounds.

Incredibly this 6,596 square foot house with five bedrooms and six baths was built on spec by quality home builder Banister Custom Homes whose extensive portfolio includes attractive houses in my own neighborhood of Ryan Place, River Bend, TCU Area, and several in Park Hill. The homeowners took the project to the next level by tasking their interior designer Reese Beddingfield of HRB Designs to customize the residence adding contemporary upgrades and luxury finishes.

An in-person visit proved to be helpful, if not essential. The layout is somewhat unusual. Instead of a foyer vestibule, the entry is a long gallery corridor running the length of the front with a rhythmic succession of beams in the ceiling.

The living room is dominated by an unusual amethyst-colored, book-matched, marble fireplace whose color is echoed in the rug and curtains. The ceiling consists of high gloss bead boards. The house feels welcoming and livable. Rooms are spacious with high but not cavernous ceilings. The builder has resisted the temptation of going grand — the downfall of many a contemporary new build of this size.

Along the corridor is this home office with bold graphic wallpaper and views of the front.

At back is the den/kitchen area conforming to a contemporary hybrid floor plan I have dubbed “semi-open concept” with separate formal living and dining rooms, a family room, and an open kitchen. The family room captures views of the terrace at this level with its breathtaking ravine views.

At the south end of the front corridor is the private primary suite which can be closed off from the rest of the house, including a sitting area, large closets, an appropriately luxurious bath, and a spacious bedroom.

The second floor contains three bedrooms with en suite baths, an informal sitting area, and a second terrace with an outdoor entertaining area and a fireplace that overlooks the pool.

At ground level is another bedroom with a bath and a party room with a mini kitchen and heaps of bonus space. The house boasts an elegant wine cellar and a three-car garage with a spotless rubber floor. One end is devoted to workout space leaving plenty of room for two cars.

Sharon Crockett of Williams Trew Real Estate is listing 2413 Lofton Terrace for $4.2 million.
