A Worth Street Prairie With Something for Everyone

I did a double take when this Worth Street Prairie home popped into view. Then the memory of this house came flooding back.
Stacy Warnix transformed this property in 2016. She’d reinvented a Tudor in Hollywood Heights prior to this home. When it sold back in 2015, it was the highest price for an existing home in Hollywood Heights.

Like so many in this area, it was originally a single-family home. For years, it was converted into a duplex. Warnix converted it back, purposely avoiding an open floor plan because she likes nooks and crannies.

One of her signature moves was always creating built-in furniture to create walls with purpose. She was supremely adept at reimagining historic homes, and although we were sorry to see her leave the Dallas market, she returned to her first love. Warnix is a successful lyrical abstraction painter.
I think she’d be extremely pleased to see how the property has evolved, especially the backyard. There is so much fun packed into the backyard that you seriously don’t have to leave for any sort of entertainment.

I love the updated paint colors and the massive backyard updates. Living in a home of this era has so many perks, and one of the best is that each of the four bedrooms opens onto a porch. Remember, back in 1919, when this Worth Street Prairie was built, sleeping porches were essential on hot nights. Even now, who wouldn’t love sleeping outdoors on one of those rare cool evenings we have in Dallas?

Let’s get back to that backyard. Originally, there was a simple but elegant fountain in the middle of the yard. It’s undergone a serious upgrade with two sitting areas, two fire pits, a putting green, and a covered carport with a pool table. It’s also wired for Sonos sound, which includes an in-ground subwoofer and multiple listening zones. All the lights are smart lights, including outdoor Lutron lighting. New security and irrigation systems have been installed.

Coldwell Banker Realtor Jill Carpenter has this Worth Street Prairie at 4834 Worth St. available for $850,000.
