As Homes Hit a Record High in May, Here are Dallas’ 3 Most Expensive Listings

5619 Walnut Hill Lane

Home prices hit a record high in May, and in an effort to leave behind the doom and gloom of rising prices and interest rates, we thought we’d take a look at a little house porn, reviewing the most lavish, expensive listings in Dallas.

Topping the list of the most expensive local homes is a palatial estate on Walnut Hill Lane that probably has more garages than your house has bedrooms. Even if it’s out of your price range, you’re going to want to peek inside.

In a report released last month, the National Association of Realtors noted that the mortgage payment for a typical home today is more than double what it was five years ago, a jump attributed to higher prices and higher interest rates that have raised mortgage rates.

“Home sales refuse to recover,” said Lawrence Yun, chief economist at the NAR. “I thought we would see a recovery this spring. We are not seeing it.”

The news is depressing, but lift your spirits with a look at these multimillion-dollar gems.

1. 5619 Walnut Hill Lane

Once known as the single most expensive home in the U.S., the 10-bedroom, 13-bath estate at 5619 Walnut Hill sits on a 12-acre lot. The house itself is more than 27,000 square feet.

The home features 14-foot ceilings on the first and second floors, a 3,000-square-foot guest house, and a 4,800-square-foot recreational complex with a theater. The fully-equipped gym includes cryotherapy and a steam room. There’s also a media room, a safe room, and multiple wine rooms accessible by elevator. Need to relax? Hop in the sensory-deprivation float tank.

A 3,000-square-foot primary suite features his-and-hers bath suites and an outdoor terrace.

As if that wasn’t enough, this home has a lighted heliport, greenhouse, gardens, tennis court, country club-sized pool, waterfall, and a year-round creek.
