You Know That Lake Highlands Pocket of Contemporary Homes on Greenville? This Is It.

Share News:

There’s a little enclave of homes off Greenville Avenue — we’re talking way “upper” Greenville Avenue down by Abrams — that is simply incredible. The entry street is Stone Creek Place. You’ve likely driven by it a ton and almost broken your neck trying to peep in and see what’s up. Well, crane no more, because today David Griffin & Co.’s Brandon Stewart is going to give you all the scoops. Or at least as many scoops as pertain to his spectacular latest listing, 9016 Stone Creek Place in Northeast Dallas.

First of all, this house is an award-winner. It was designed by Mark Shekter, who built several in this little pocket and in Oak Lawn as well. This home in particular won an NCSAM Design Award. One of Shekter’s signatures was an abundance of windows. With this creek lot, you get a treehouse feel. It’s so, so, so good.

Let’s Start Outside

When you first step outside onto the backyard deck, I guarantee you’ll gasp just a little bit. It’s gorgeous.

The property is — well, what’s one notch above all your wildest dreams coming true? Because that’s where this one sits on my list. The home sides to a heavily wooded creek that gets incredibly lush and green during the spring and summer seasons. When everything is filled in, you ARE living in a treehouse. An air-conditioned, exceptionally well-maintained and perfectly decorated treehouse.

The deck wraps around the house and takes you to an amazing pool that’s right out of any resort. Along one side of the pool, there’s a built-in bench that runs the length of the home. It’s 100 percent that house where pool parties turn into sunrise parties. Straight 1960s Laurel Canyon vibes, though it was constructed in the 1980s.

Step Inside Lovelies

The Stone Creek Place home hails from one of my favorite architecture styles: 1980s contemporary. This lovely lady was born in 1984 and I’ll prove it.

In the kitchen, there’s a built-in toaster oven and can opener. FOR REAL. The toaster oven is built into the wall as a little metal drawer that pops out. Then there’s the omnipresent electric can opener that’s at the ready to effortlessly break into your can of French Cut Green Beans.

A Layout to Love

The floorplan is flawless. A massive living room anchored by a stunning fireplace, a primary bedroom with a very generous bathroom, plus a door leading out to the pool deck. Upstairs, you’ll find the remaining bedrooms and a secondary living area. Any of the bedrooms could be offices and they currently are.

All-The-Way Upgrades

The owner is an audio-visual editor who doesn’t do anything halfway. There are MartinLogan speakers throughout the entire house and probably more audio-y things if that’s your jam. But back to upgrades, if you head back to the kitchen, you’ll notice a little tap next to the faucet. It’s not a traditional reverse osmosis tap either, it’s a Kangen Water Filtration System that “makes your own healthy, alkaline, antioxidant drinking water that’s rich in minerals and purged of impurities.”  The built in Subzero refrigerator really is from the 1980s, but it’s also been entirely rebuilt so mechanically, it’s like new.

It’s also has some dose of funky and I LOVE IT.

Stewart listed this exceptional home at $1.050 million.
