Put Down the Leftovers and Pick Up This Exceptional Eastwood Home

It’s the day after the day after Thanksgiving. Some call it Saturday. Some call it three out from regret. It’s a day for college games, dodging the mall, and looking at houses with pretty pictures that now fill the void where a mere two days ago, you put pie. I don’t want to stand in the way of natural order of things, so here you go.

Eastwood Is Where It’s At

Not only is this a killer house with the prettiest pictures, it’s also in one of the best neighborhoods in East Dallas – Eastwood, located near Old Lake Highlands and Lochwood. It’s on Lake Gardens Drive, too, which is – chef’s kiss – the best of the best as far as streets in the neighborhood. There are tons of trees, creating an out of the way feel right in the city and it’s been that way for decades. A little digging revealed that back in the 1950s and 1960s, Eastwood was considered “country living with dirt roads and a pecan grove.” Rounding out why Eastwood rules? It feeds into Hexter Elementary, one of the most sought after DISD elementaries.

Inside the house is completely updated. It’s move-in ready and impeccable. I was 100 percent certain it was staged, but nope, Compass RE’s Meghan Kelley said the owner’s taste is just that good. That’s the level of remodel we’re talking here.

They completely redid the kitchen with shaker style cabinets, a massive island, and coffee bar. Not to mention a Bertazzoni range and farmhouse sink. It opens to the living room which rivals the nursery as far as best dressed room in the house. I mean, that freaking arched cabinet? COME ON.

The Best Bonus – More Room

Then there’s my favorite – the most perfect wallpaper in the sweetest nursery which, of course, is just one of the three bedrooms. The primary suite is up and there’s a very good reason for that. It has an incredible bonus room/sun room/yoga studio/office/glassed in balcony. It overlooks the backyard which is amazing. Spacious and well-manicured with cool, modern stepping stones leading to a firepit. And above it all? Those fantastic trees creating the perfect shady spot.

The sellers would love to close by December 28 so if you get cracking, you could toast the New Year in your new home and, weather permitting, walk to Goodfriend to celebrate. Hooray.

Kelley has 10427 Lake Gardens Drive listed for $650,000.
