Run! This East Dallas Ju-Nel Dream Just Listed And It’s Open All Weekend

Compass RE’s Jennifer Rice has this real deal East Dallas Ju-Nel and it’s spectacular.

For the uninitiated, Ju-Nels are a brand of distinctive Dallas Midcentury Modern homes built by a builder duo who named their company after their wives, Julie and Nelda. This is actually the second time we’ve featured this fun Ju-Nel in Eastwood Estates since its previous update in 2015. Hop in our time machine and check out the photos in the article below, then hit your back button to teleport back to good ole’ 2023. We’ll wait.

The listing agent Jennifer Rice describes this 1960-built beauty as a fun home. I mean, there’s an enormously prominent game room, sure, but it’s the way this one flows that makes it so fun.

Rice said not only does this house have great energy, it has many of the architectural hallmarks that make it a Ju-Nel. The first one you’ll notice is the two-way fireplace. This see-through hearth made of blond brick anchors the HUGE living room, open kitchen with breakfast bar, and breakfast nook. It’s a big open space that lets party-goers wander from one room to the next with the easiest of ease.

Another focal point is the backyard. Ju-Nels are very much about marrying the inside with the outside, and this home offers ample access to the backyard — the dining room, primary suite, and an additional bedroom currently used as an office – all have sliding glass or French doors that open to the outdoor deck.

Of course, the deck is incredible. There are levels, y’all, and it’s like a freaking resort out there. The cedar deck leads right up to the pool, and off to the side there’s a firepit with seating. Stacked stone lines the other side of the pool and there is just enough greenery to create an oasis, but not clog your pool filter.

Also notable, the Corten steel fence in front and a little peek of it in the stone in the back. There are fountains in the front and the back to capture that cool, East Dallas laidback vibe. A gated walkway just adds a little something, too. The gate serves a purpose, too. It’s the entrance to a nice little, low-maintenance side yard with seating. And that just adds to the entertainment aspect of this house – so many places to gather.

Inside, the lighting is true to the era with Nelson bubble lamps and other vintage or vintage-inspired pendant lights.

The game room is a nice addition with concrete floors and enough room for a pool table or twenty-person couch. Do they make those? They should.

Not only is this the coolest mid-century, it’s also in the coolest location – you can walk to White Rock Lake. And if you have kids? Those lucky little ducks are headed to the sought-after Hexter Elementary.

If you’d like to check it out, there are two open houses this weekend: Saturday, Sept. 16 from 1 to 3 p.m. and Sunday, Sept. 17 from 3 to 5 p.m.

Jennifer Rice of Compass RE Texas has 10469 Coleridge Street listed for $885,000.
