Melody Oaks Acres in Royse City Is The Chic Farm Life You’ve Been Looking For

With a name like Melody Oaks Acres, it has to be good. That’s a slogan for jelly and jam, but it’s also my new slogan for this luxury ranch home in Royce City.

When the owners set out to build their dream home in 2016, they teamed up with an architect, Mike Rouse; a builder, Perry Bowen; and an interior designer, Vicky Duncan. Together they created a home that is incredibly special. They don’t even have to tell you they agonized over every detail. You just know they did. Homes like this don’t just happen.

Part of what makes this home so special is the setting. It’s set on more than 12 acres, sprinkled with clusters of oak trees. The owners love these mighty oaks and the privacy they provide. And even though you’re only half an hour from Downtown Dallas, when your home is surrounded by a canopy of trees like this, you really, really feel like you’re away from it all.

Realtors Samantha Roberts and Ali Vollmer of The Agency Dallas said the owners call the pool a “pond pool.” They wanted to create something special that feels like it was part of the landscape. Each of the rocks that create the coping were hand-selected and added around the pool with a crane. We can definitely start in the living room with the most incredibly high ceilings, solid wood buttresses, and row of clerestory windows letting the sun stream in. (Then think about seeing the moon we’ve been loving lately through those bad boys at night!!)

The rock fireplace in the living room is eighteen feet tall if that gives you any hint of how soaring those ceilings are.

Continuing my ceiling obsession, the kitchen is lined with solid wood shiplap and a real Chicago brick backsplash. Those two elements make the kitchen feel warm, cozy, and inviting.

Do you see what I mean? Like it’s a BIG kitchen but when it’s filled with so many textures it’s exactly the place you’ll want to linger. Fortunately, there’s an island big enough to support all your guests. (And offers tucked-away barstools too!!)

The primary suite and ensuite bathroom are HUGE. They showcase how impressive this home is. Again, we see the ceilings accented with beams and don’t even get me started on that bathroom. It’s gorgeous and the claw foot bathrub and herringbone floors are so freaking perfect.

This home is quintessential Farmhouse Transitional and trust me, when it’s this pretty in the finish out, all your home furnishings are going to look great.

Final thing – and maybe I’m switching to a brick obsession??? – the front porch is completely bricked. Again, not a detail everyone would splurge on. But then again, this isn’t an everyday home.
