Pencil In The Peninsula, This Sunday

Have you ever been to a yoga class and the instructor calls a stretch “juicy” or “yummy” and you’re like “huh?” It’s a little bit of a head scratcher, but I get it now. This house is JUICY. As in the story of it all. Not in the way it’s salacious at all, but more that it’s layered and the deeper you go, the more you’ll love it.

Briggs Freeman’s Janelle Alcantara flipped the script and asked ME a question. What made me call her about this particular house? The location. It’s in The Peninsula down by White Rock Lake. THE FREAKING PENINSULA. Where houses never ever go up for sale. Alcantara pointed out that it is across Buckner, but even then it’s only half a mile from our beloved White Rock Lake. HALF A MILE. And it’s listed at $600,000. That’s crazy.

Alcantara went on to say the owner is a custom home builder. Luxury homes. Over 10,000 square feet of luxury. Because of that, he has access to all the tradesmen and women that are literally at the top of their game. Now guess who did the kitchen remodel? THOSE SAME MEN AND WOMEN. Alcantara said it’s a kitchen that belongs in a million-dollar home. Top-of-the-line appliances, a dishwasher concealed in the cabinetry, freaking built-on-site custom cabinetry, and those matte, smooth, leather countertops that none of us can resist touching in real life. Just off the kitchen, there’s a huge walk-in pantry to house all your Cup O’ Soups.

The staircase leading up to the owner’s retreat on the second floor is generously wide. It’s about four or five feet so not one of those modern-day skinny minnies. The upstairs was an addition at some point and it really is one big, generous room plus a bathroom and a balcony overlooking the huge backyard. Alcantara said for some the upstairs bathroom might not be the humongous retreat their looking for, but there’s a nook on the other side of one wall that would make for a super easy expansion. She said much like the pantry downstairs, the closet up there is big, like walk-in big. Definitely not something you typically find in this area or vintage of a house.

If you’d like to take a look at 9523 Peninsula Drive, Alcantara is hosting an Open House from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday, June 26. She teamed up with two other listings in the area, 558 Parkhurst Drive and 9636 Northcliff Drive, so you can hit all three with ease. NOTE: Northcliff will be Open from noon to 4 p.m., so there’s only an hour overlap. Now hit that trifecta.
