Should you wait until after Thanksgiving to decorate for Christmas? This Opendoor survey shows that Texans can’t wait to get festive.

From Staff Reports

With the most festive time of year upon us now, homeowners around the country are beginning to decorate their homes for the holidays. Though new data from Opendoor shows that 40 percent of people across America start decorating after Thanksgiving, and 42 percent of people in Texas actually finish their decorating ahead of turkey day!

“Seeing that residents in the Dallas-Fort Worth area value the holidays doesn’t come as a surprise!” said Sharon Brown, Opendoor’s Dallas general manager. “It especially makes sense for residents with families and young children, so family-friendly neighborhoods like Wylie, Plano, and Saginaw are probably already getting into the holiday spirit.”

But how are they sprucing up their homes to celebrate the season?

According to Opendoor’s survey, buyers in the Lone Star State love to host for the holidays. In fact, 57 percent said they prioritize an open floor plan when shopping for a home.

Other top holiday-themed home features include:

  • 43 percent want a double oven for holiday cooking
  • 38 percent love a mantel for holiday decorating
  • 22 percent want a formal dining room

“Home features that complement getting ready for the holiday season also work for people who have big families or like to entertain,” Brown added. “It makes sense to prioritize features like an open floor plan, dining room space as well as larger kitchens with matching appliances to facilitate safe gatherings with loved ones during the holidays and beyond.”
