$1,200 Gets More For Dallas-Fort Worth Renters Than You Think, Plus Other Reports

Your budget is $1,200 for monthly rental in a Dallas-Fort Worth apartment.

RENTCafé crunched the numbers to determine how much space they can rent for that amount in 109 Texas cities with a large apartment stock. Using Yardi Matrix data, the study highlighted cities where renters can get the most space for an amount close to the state’s average rent of $1,176.

For $1,200, you’ll get about 25 percent more apartment space in Texas than the 711-square-foot average in the 100 most-populous U.S. cities.

In Dallas, renters can get an average of 811 square feet for $1,200. In Fort Worth, you can score 883 square feet. As a comparison, the state average is 937 square feet.

The cities where you can get more space for the money were a close call. In Greenville, renters can get one additional square foot over second-place Balch Springs — 1,133 to 1,132. The two cities are also the ninth- and 10th-largest in Texas based on $1,200 monthly rent.

Flower Mound has the smallest space available in Texas with 704 square feet for the given amount. In Austin, $1,200 gets you 742 square feet.
