The New York Stunner That Might Have You In Deep

Share News:

Our New York pad for this week’s Wednesday WTF reminds me of this date I had once. Guys, he was dreamy. He was a gentleman. He knew how to make a souffle from scratch (both literally and euphemistically).

But one day, we did laundry together, and I discovered that he used fabric softener for everything. No detergent, just a full cup of Downy and a prayer.

And then I discovered that he didn’t use pillow cases. And he didn’t have hand towels. And it was just kind of, you know, hard to look at him with the honeymoon goggles after that.

And that’s this house. Dreamy. Makes your souffle rise. But then there’s some weirdness and you can’t understand it.

I mean, the grounds of this Huntington, New York, home are gorgeous.

And it has a pretty living room.

And the dining room clearly has some pretty awesome views, too.

But much like my date, there’s something going in the middle of all this gorgeousness that has me scratching my head.

Let’s see if we can put our fingers on it.

Yeah, that. I actually can see the benefits of an indoor pool if you live up north, where otherwise you might only get three months of use. But I am guessing this is not the house you go to if you are planning on having a cocktail party unless you’re limiting libations for each guest to maybe two.

The listing says:

“Lloyd Harbor. “Villa Riele” 33-acre compound perfectly situated on Long Island’s historic Gold Coast. This mid-century modern masterpiece was designed by world renowned architect Edward Durell Stone. The home features an air of sophistication and luxury including imported marbles floors, 20 foot solid mahogany doors as well as authentically preserved and original details throughout. Once part of the Colgate Estate, Villa Riele has one of the largest stretches of private LI Sound front on the East Coast at over 700 feet of direct waterfront. The compound also features a grandfathered one-bedroom beach house for endless summer entertaining. The property has been subdivided into 4 lots. This Estate’s connection to some of the most powerful and iconic families in history make this truly a one of a kind offering!”
