This Midcentury in East Dallas Is Even Cuter Than it Looks

The more you drive around Dallas, the more you realize there are little pockets of Midcentury Moderns all over the place. The latest is Crestview East where you’ll find this cutie. 

It’s the adorable little MCM that could. Delayed by the snowstorms, when this one hit the market it did it with a bang. I stopped to take a look this past Saturday and there was one agent waiting on clients. He said it was the third time he’d shown that house that day. He was also the one that tipped us off to the fact that inside it was even better than the pictures.

We all know that’s rare times infinity. 

The inside was, indeed, immaculate and held a few surprises. Dave Perry-Miller’s Susan Melnick said the orange pendant globe in the entry is believed to be original. It also very likely inspired the little pops of orange out front.

Love the super cute little deck out front and maybe you won’t even use it, (I’m not trying to see my neighbors in my jimjams for morning coffee) but maybe it’ll become your Uber loading zone, who knows? The point is these people know what they’re doing. Those chairs couldn’t be more perfect. And they’re from Ikea no less. That’s extra bang for your Swedish buck. 

Inside, the kitchen is open and updated and there’s a gorgeous fireplace separating the dining area from the living room. In the main living, there’s a set of stunning French doors that lead into the backyard.

Well, the doors aren’t the stunner, but the backyard is. Things have seriously greened up since these photos were taken and it’s pretty idyllic out back. Now if it were me, I’d make that a sliding glass door because why hide that killer view?

Some people are just superstars at using space, and these sellers are those people. They tucked a little buffet in the fireplace alcove. Great for extra storage and a lil’ pop of flair, too. 

All the bedrooms are down a hallway, two on the left and straight ahead? The primary bedroom with an en suite bathroom that’s pretty dang impressive. And, get this, the closet in the primary is a WALK-IN. That’s right it’s an MCM AND YOU CAN DO TWIRLS IN THE CLOSET. 

In a lot of homes built in the mid-1950s, the main bathroom is also accessible by the hallway, but at this Crestview home, they sealed it up. They kept the doorframe and added a recessed series of shelves for displaying family photos, art, knickknacks, and such. I wish there was a picture of it, but there isn’t so I’ll just paint one with my words.

Nonetheless, just like all of 1456 Oates, it was adorable.
