Lock It Down In Lochwood

Share News:

Over in Lochwood, there’s a midcentury modern that’s suuuper cool. It’s a split level with a massive side yard and a greenbelt nearby.

Obviously, this is a way cool house, made even cooler by the fact that it’s currently owned by an interior designer. While you obsess over the pictures, I’ll tell you the story of this listing. It’s a fresh take on selling in COVID times, too.

Last year when COVID hit hard, the seller’s parents moved in with her. It was a little tight with extra family members so it was time to find something bigger. But with a crowded house – and the fact that we’re all home all the time – it would be super difficult to show, right? Right. Well, Briggs Freeman’s Janelle Alcantara came up with a plan.

She decided to fast track this sell. (Which is totally doable in the current market, as we all know.) Here’s how they’re doing it. The seller and her family moved out and put all their furniture in storage. Remember how I said she’s an interior designer? She staged her own house with inventory from her own warehouse. The family is currently staying in the plushiest accommodations so they can chill out and leave dishes in the sink. Meanwhile potential buyers can book on a whim and check out this jawdropper unencumbered all day long. Pretty smart thinking, huh?

Now, there are a few things we have to mention about the house. Updated throughout. Check. Designer wallpaper. Check. A few steps down from the main level and you land in a generous playroom. A few steps up and you’re greeted with three bedrooms and two bathrooms. And then tucked just a little bit farther is the fourth bedroom which would make a killer office. It’s quiet and secluded so you can throw on the cat filter in Zoom and go to town.

Alcantara said the house is also very thoughtfully situated on the lot. Instead of an expansive backyard, there’s a huge side yard that runs along the length of the house. She pointed out that means you have views of the backyard from the kitchen, living room and dining room. Gorgeous.

The current owner had the intention of blowing out the wall of windows on the lower level and adding a retractable glass door, so that’s definitely still an option.

If you’d like to check out this four-bedroom, two-and-one-half-bathroom house listed at $640,000, you can take a virtual tour here or there’s an Open House at 10551 Silverock Drive Sunday from 2:00pm to 4:00pm. Alcantara will be there with fur covered bells on.

If you like this architecture and modern architecture in general, Alcantara’s Galaxy Modern is one to check out.
