Well, here we are, the last Tarrant County Tuesday of 2020. What to write about? A million-dollar monster mansion? A rural single-story? An urban walk-up?

Nope. To celebrate the pending arrival of 2021 I am going to tell you about a quaint two/one cottage on the westside of Fort Worth. (See what I did? A two/one … 2021 … it’s a stretch but humor me.)

Built in 1930 with an inviting front porch

3821 West 5th Street

Nestled among mature oak trees, historic homes, and four blocks from River Crest Country Club sits a quaint cottage.

The home, built in 1930, is a 1,712 square-foot abode of two bedrooms and one bathroom. Throughout the home you’ll enjoy the original oak hardwood floors, an inviting layout, and all the charm you can’t find in newer homes.

At some time in last 90 years the attic has been turned into useable living space.

You will notice that sometime in the home’s 90-year existence, an owner commandeered the vaulted attic area by adding a staircase to create a large area that can be a play area, sleeping space or home office.

All bedrooms enjoy large windows which allow warmth of the sun to pour into the rooms.

Original hardwoods and great light throughout the home.

The galley kitchen has a gas cooktop, double ovens and lots of counter space. While not the “open concept” floor plan that newer homes seem to bring, the floor plan still allows for easy congregating and flows nicely.

3821 West 5th Street has a great back yard for gatherings on the deck. The smooth-and-level concrete drive area behind the drive gate will be a favorite if you have youngsters learning to scooter, skate or ride a bike.

That’s it from Tarrant County Tuesday for 2020! As always, much love to Candy Evans for allowing me to type my thoughts and opinions on real estate and to editor Joanna England for allowing me to miss 90 percent of my deadlines and forget vital punctuation (Joanna: Forgiven!).

Everyone stay safe. Stay healthy and have a very Merry Christmas and Happy New Year. See you in 2021!
