High-End, High-Tech Appliance Museum on a Creeky Preston-Royal Lane

Share News:

We rave about homes daily here on CandysDirt.com, but every so often one comes up that is beyond fabulous! A few years ago I’d say, “this is one that will make you drop your fingernail file.”

And this home at 10877 Crooked Creek will make you drop your jaw and maybe even more! This home is a veritable high-end appliance museum, loaded with the best known to mankind. That’s because the sellers are none other than Jan and Michael Davis, founders of Capital Distributing.

The Davises sold Capital Distributing to Ferguson’s in late 2019. But when you buy a home custom-crafted by the owner of one of the largest appliance showrooms in the nation, expect high-end quality technology in every room of the house, including the best appliances available to purchase!

First of all, property location!

You know the cardinal rule: location, location, location. Crooked Creek is a sleeper in the Strait Lane area just north of Royal Lane, a one-outlet-only winding lane that hugs the Bachman Branch of Bachman Creek. Along this woodsy drive are stunning estate-like properties on generous lots that are not cookie-cutter.

This stunner at 10877 Crooked Creek backs to the creek, with a western sunset view. The home is 6,347 square feet, with three oversized bedrooms and a full guest suite loft apartment. And the outdoor pool, kitchen, and living area? To die for.

Four Kitchens, Zero Regrets

The kitchens — all FOUR of them — rival any showroom kitchen, and the master bath and closet are completely new. The dual vanity master bath sparkles with stunning quartzite, an oversized waterfall shower, an over-the-top vessel tub, and the smartest storage you have ever seen.

Built in 1974, the home was extensively remodeled throughout the years. But when the Davises moved in, this house was given a whole new identity as they gutted from the crawlspace up: new roof, electrical upgrades, five new HVAC units with fresh ductwork, new pool, outdoor kitchen, deck, new windows, and doors. In 2015, the Davises then remodeled the kitchen and butler’s kitchen over a period of eight months.

In 2016, the crawl space was encapsulated; dehumidifiers and sump pumps were added. And then just about a minute ago, the masterpiece of a master bathroom was executed and completed.

Walk in, take in the full view of the great room and see the pool right out sliding glass doors. Adjacent to the great room is the kitchen, and here is what you will find: Bentwood cabinets, Neolith countertops, 48-inch Wolf Dual Fuel Range with griddle, 48-inch ModernAire Custom vent hood, 48-inch Sub-Zero Pro 48 refrigerator, Wolf Combi steam oven, Wolf warming drawer, and two Miele dishwashers.

That’s the kitchen. Then there is the Butler’s pantry, a buttery located behind the kitchen that serves as extra food and utensil storage, a prep kitchen, laundry room, pet paradise, this room boasting a Sub-Zero 36-inch refrigerator, a 36-inch Sub-Zero freezer, and yet another Miele dishwasher.

That’s three dishwashers on the first floor. There is also a private powder room off this prep kitchen.

There is a centrally-located bar adjacent to the breakfast room and main kitchen: Sub-Zero 30-inch Dual Zone wine storage, Sub-Zero clear icemaker, and a complete Miele Coffee System.

Entertaining That Will Catch You Outside

Now lest you think this is the end of our entertainment story in this house baby, we are just warming up.

Step out of the main living area through those glass doors and you are in outdoor entertainment paradise: a large pool and spa, a fenced walnut colored deck overlooking the creek, and a fourth kitchen in the covered outdoor entertaining area with custom fire pit next to the swimming pool and spa.

The deck and surrounding patio hold will enough tables to entertain 80 to 100 people plus a band. And talk about juiced, one could basically live on this patio, weather permitting — there are overhead heaters — and never set foot inside the house.

The outdoor kitchen has Atlantis cabinets with Perma-Tek box construction and teak doors, granite countertops, Lynx grill, a second Miele Coffee System, 24-inch under-counter True beverage center (think: Highland Park Pharmacy), Hoshizaki clear icemaker (the second icemaker in the home), 24-inch Liebherr under-counter refrigerator, Monogram Advantium oven and warming drawers, another Miele dishwasher, plus three TVs and overhead speakers.

Beyond the outdoor kitchen is an exterior-accessible pool bath and changing area: your pool guests need never step foot in your home.

So yes, this home is beyond the consummate host and hostesses’ dreams. But it is also an auto lovers dream, with a spanking clean, three-car garage with ample storage and shelving. There is even a brand-new mechanic’s powder room. The side driveway would make a terrific basketball court or hard surface play area.

Above this garage is a guest suite overlooking the pool area and creek, complete with balcony. Spacious, with a kitchen and sitting area, full single vanity bath and closet, this loft-like kitchen boasts a Liebherr refrigerator/freezer, Miele dishwasher, and a Monogram Advantium oven.

A couple could live in this loft suite, and come to think of it, one could even quarantine here without touching the main house: there is easy access to the garage via a back stairway.

Parents note: the home has a fabulous master suite downstairs, with that brand new bath! A secondary en suite bedroom is located in the master wing, across a vestibule, which would be perfect for a nursery, office, or a sitting room. The third bedroom has access to the powder room, which could be expanded. Needless to say this home has multiple living areas: den, sunken great room, cozy keeping room off the kitchen with fireplace, all with fantastic views of the newly built pool and creek.

This stunner at 10877 Crooked Creek is listed with Ryan Streiff and Charles Gregory of the Perry-Miller Streiff Group at Dave Perry-Miller.
