This summer, Leigh Ann Barrick joined Engel & Voelkers’ Southlake office after spending the past 11 years as one of Keller Williams’ top sellers.

“As much admiration as I have for Keller Williams and where I’ve been, I think it was time for me to grow and learn some new things, and this was a great opportunity,” she said.

One of the biggest advantages for her was the fact that Engel & Voelkers has a presence in Georgia’s Golden Isles. Barrick grew up in St. Simons Island, Georgia, before her former job at American Airlines brought her to North Texas. These days she spends about 70 percent of her time in Dallas-Fort Worth, and the rest in Georgia.

“I found now that after 20 years in real estate, a lot of my clients are looking for a second home, a vacation home or an investment, so Engel & Voelkers made sense to me,” she said. “They are also involved in things like aviation and yachting, which makes sense with my airline background.”

While working with American Airlines, Barrick was a flight service manager and did new hire training and recruitment. In 1999 she earned her real estate license and went to work with the Henry S. Miller residential division in Los Colinas. She specialized in golf and gated communities.

According to Barrick, she keeps going after more than two decades because she enjoys the many friends that she has made over the years. There’s even a client who has used her eight times for various relocations to and from the Dallas area.

“It’s all relationships to me. I’ve been in this so long I have families whose children are coming of age and using me now,” she said. “It’s certainly satisfying to know that I’ve been able to help so many people.”

One thing people may not know about Barrick is that she is an avid music lover. Growing up, her mother taught her the importance of music therapy.  She’s started playing the harp when she was three years old and still breaks it out from time to time when the mood strikes.

“I adore music.  You might even see me show up at a concert or two,” Barrick said.
