We hope that you’ll take time today to celebrate the memory of Ebby Halliday Acers and “do something for someone,” as she often did. Today, the first lady of Dallas real estate would have turned 105. While we are grateful that this smart, hardworking, and elegant woman transformed the landscape of Dallas for the better, we sure do miss her.

Today we celebrate a life well lived. Ebby Halliday Acers, who passed away this past September, was born on this day in 1911. She would have been 105 today.

Born Vera Lucille Koch in a small Arkansas town, the woman who would later take the professional name “Ebby Halliday” was admired worldwide for her ability to combine leadership with femininity and business acumen.

Ebby’s impact on the residential real estate industry was unmatched. Over the years, she opened the doors to successful careers for thousands of people; in particular for women at a time when opportunities were limited.

Ebby founded Ebby Halliday Realtors in 1945. Today, her namesake company is the largest independently owned residential real estate services company in Texas and ranks 10th in the nation. Ebby always said she was able to achieve what she did because she was blessed with a great team.

Our company is a reflection of Ebby herself, an extraordinary leader who inspired thousands of people with her simple approach of “Do Something for Someone Every Day.” On this special day, we’d like to wish Ebby a very Happy Birthday.
