Today I take you to one of my favorite streets in Dallas, Isabella Lane. Years ago we had the chance to stretch, and I do mean stretch, to buy a property on Isabella where we could have kept horses. I am still obsessed with this part of Dallas just west of Strait Lane. It reminds me of what Dallas of yesteryear was like, when these were truly horse properties just on the outskirts of town. You know I’m itching to have a ranch!

Now, these estates are in the heart of Dallas. But the area still feels like you’ve headed out of Dodge and arrived at the ranch with horse, chickens and maybe even a few Longhorn roaming.

4611 Isabella ain’t no ranch. She  is a mighty house: 8,709 square feet, on mighty dirt: 1.026 acres. Built in 1984 by Venetian Homes, Shy and Charlotte Jones Anderson, she being the daughter of Jerry Jones, of course, lived here from about 2000 to 2010. In 2010 the current owners,  the Wenzels, came in and took everything down to the foundation for a major make-over.

So chronologically, the home is about six years old.

The home offers a fabulous open floor plan with six bedrooms, including the master down, six full and two half baths, four living areas, and a three-car garage. There are high ceilings, thick crown moldings, and abundant natural light. Enter the formal entry to be greeted by  two gorgeous crystal chandeliers and a sweeping grand “debutante” staircase, opening into the light-filled living room, adjacent parlor, and an elegant formal dining room complete with butler’s pantry and wine grotto.

The kitchen offers up a large island kitchen with two-story ceilings with an upstairs balcony overlook, custom cabinetry, granite counters, high-end stainless steel appliances and a large walk-in “hidden”  pantry. Maybe it’s a scullery. The cheerful breakfast room and family room with fireplace are right off the kitchen. Of course there are walls of windows over the tremendous back-yard, all providing natural light and fantastic views of the outdoor patio area. There is also a handsome formal study with paneled walls, a coffered ceiling, walls of built-ins and a separate outside entrance, perfect for an at-home business.

The master retreat is located towards the rear of the house and is secluded. Verrry secluded. I love the large master sitting area, fireplace and dual bathrooms with travertine floors, marble surfaces, separate shower, jetted tub, and enormous walk-in closets. Here is another huge selling point from our Top 10 Building Trends: folks really want a large laundry room with plenty of surface space and built-ins, right on the first floor. Even better, make two: one down, one up. Upstairs, the second level features five additional bedrooms, four full baths, a secondary laundry room, a large game room with a wet bar, and a multi-level theater style media room.

4612-isabella-ln-dallas-tx-High-Res-33.jpgBut the outside living adventure is what could very well sell you on this house. Got boys? They will hold their breath, no doubt, till you buy them this house. There is a large, covered patio with fireplace, a few steps down is the heated saltwater pool & spa with fountains, separate guest quarters with a full bath and kitchenette, and a summer kitchen with built-in grill and refrigerator. There is also a sport court, batting cage and a zip line!

I mean, Dave Perry-Miller agents Mark Cain & Susie Swanson have it listed at $3,895,000. Which I think is pretty spot-on. There aren’t that many homes in Dallas under $5 million with all these toys. And that might very well include horses, if they are grandfathered in.

Ahh, ranch living in the Bubble. The perfect get-away without ever getting away. Kick on your cowboy boots and march down to Inwood Mortgage. Let ’em fill your saddle bag with enough money to buy your Isabella.

Beautiful home! The pics of this home would look great in one of our email templates for you to send to other Realtors.
