Sunday Six Hundred: If It’s Good Enough for The Good Guys, It’s Good Enough for Us!

Share News:

Here’s a little post-Mother’s Day giftie. This Lakewood area home is not yet on the market, but is very much for sale as a Hip Pocket, so this is your chance to snag an off-market listing before it hits MLS.

And it may spur you to know: fame both slept and SHOT here.

Do you remember The Good Guys? It was an action comedy about two detectives stuck in small crimes, shot in Dallas. The cops’ “routine investigations” (Code 58s) often lead them into bigger cases and even bigger trouble. Starred Colin Hanks, Tom Hank’s son, as Jack Bailey, a cop who followed the rules but had enemies higher up. He was paired with Bradley Whitford, Dan Stark as an unpredictable old-school cop whose heroic rescue of the Governor’s son 30 years ago kept him employed but basically mailing it in. Dan’s drinking and antics left him in the Property Crimes Division, or vying for the attention of his ex, Assistant District Attorney Liz Traynor (Jenny Wade).

The short-lived series was cancelled chop chop, after just six months, in December, 2010 but not before it filmed some great footage of Dallas, including this house at 3914 Frontier that is a creek-view oasis. Seriously, look at this back yard and tell me if you cannot just trick yourself into thinking this is Colorado!

Every inch of the 2920 square feet has had total loving care and hundreds of upgrades, including a master bath that will knock your exercise socks off:  vaulted ceiling, designer tub, dual marble vanities, huge closets, gorgeous hardware and fixtures. The three bedroom home features three baths, three living areas, two dining areas and a kitchen. Of course, living area number four is the great outdoors! The kitchen location is central, anchored by a large island that does double duty as a breakfast bar. Note the gleaming stainless appliances, including a Viking stove. This home has been stuffed with top of the line everything. Check out the wake-up views from that master!

Now for the star quality: when the The Good Guys  was shooting in Dallas in 2010, the show snapped this house for filming. What did they dig? The stunning back yard! For six weeks they sent the J. Crew look-alike owner’s family to the Ritz, took over the house, revived the gardens, build an extra storage shed in the back, and added six potted palms to the deck. Where did the cute family go? Why, they were put up at The Ritz-Carlton, Dallas, of course!

The open floor plan is ideal not only for shooting TV series, it flows for entertaining that can spill over to the 750 sq.ft. deck viewing the trees. This family was handsomely rewarded while they enjoyed the Ritz, and the crew left the home as tidy as a monk’s drawer. Not only is the house and lot fabulous, you are close to White Rock Lake, in Lakewood Elementary, and a part of the whole dang fabulous community known as Lakewood.

Asking $699,000. Not listed yet but buy it, and don’t be surprised if another movie producer comes a knocking!
