Need a break from all of the news from Austin and Washington, D.C.? Here’s a lovely palate cleanser in the form of a breathtaking Midcentury Modern in Lake Highlands.

Featured on the White Rock Home Tour, 8834 Capri Drive is a Zolicoffer and Associates-designed 1963 split-level with 2,824 square feet, four bedrooms, three and a half baths, and a two-car garage (not a car port!). This home is just adorable inside and out, and has been lovingly cared for. It’s for sale by owner until Thursday or Friday, which is when owner Jon Buell says they’ll hire an agent to market the property.

Buell is asking $439,900 for the property, which sits on a little less than a third of an acre in the Sylvania Dells subdivision of Lake Highlands. The house has such a unique U-shaped floorplan that surrounds a courtyard with a fire pit. John Thompson of Ten55 designed a master landscape plan for the property, which has been partially enacted. The remaining plan comes with the sale of the property.

I love the light and character of this home, which has two living areas and two dining areas, a master suite and a workroom above the garage. The home was renovated in 2007  to include new hardwood floors and carpeting, new windows and sliding glass doors downstairs, new bathroom fixtures, electrical upgrades, recessed lighting, gallery-finish walls, stainless steel appliances in the kitchen with a new counter and backsplash, and many other upgrades to the roof and utilities.

So, what do you think? Isn’t it magnificent? Want to haul off and buy it? Contact Jon Buell at jon (at) buelldesign (dot) com.
