Selling Your Home For the Big Bucks: Why Every Bedroom Needs a Headboard

Is it just me, or is everyone in Dallas looking for headboards? I know it’s fall now — really, despite the temperatures, it is fall — and the busiest time of the year for the home furnishings biz is the fall when everyone is getting their homes decked out for the holidays. I ran into a woman at Tuesday Morning the other day — BTW did you know that Tuesday Morning ships items on their web free to a Tuesday Morning store near you?? — who was hunting for headboards for much the same reason I was: kids moved out of the house.  Gave kids the bedroom furniture. Now putting together a guest room that is attractive, warm and inviting on a tight budget.

“A bedroom just seems naked without a headboard,” she said. I concur.

Actually, so do sharp agents. A year or so ago, I was in a home going on the market and they didn’t have headboards by any of the beds, not even the master. I could not put my finger on what was lacking — each room looked cold and unfriendly. It’s no headboards, said the agent — duh! He insisted they at least get one for the master.

But if you are moving, or getting rooms ready for guests like me, you don’t really want to spend $5000 on a headboard, although that is less than the Louboutin shoes I want to buy for my son’s wedding.
