Staff Reports

Presented in partnership with Door and Stellar Home Theater and Beyond, the Dallas Builders Association will hold a one-day Parade of Homes May 4, showcasing seven high-end custom homes in the Dallas area. Featured homes are situated in several neighborhoods in Dallas, including Preston Hollow, Midway Hollow, and East Dallas near White Rock Lake, as well as in University Park.

“Each home in this scattered-site, self-guided tour will be fully decorated and landscaped, featuring the very finest in innovative home building and custom craftsmanship,” said Dallas Builders Association President Matt Robinson of Walton Global Holdings. “Visitors will be able to tour these luxury homes, experiencing state-of-the-art technology, energy efficiency, and architectural design.”

The Parade benefits Operation FINALLY HOME, an organization that provides custom, mortgage-free homes to combat-wounded U.S. military veterans and their families. The Dallas Builders Association has just completed its seventh Operation FINALLY HOME project.

Bella Custom Homes

4926 Deloache Avenue built by Bella Custom Homes

When the venerable Dallas builder Tony Visconti says a home is well-built, you better believe it’s top-notch, hands-down, best-materials-that-money-can-buy kind of quality, and that’s clearly true with this $14 million Deloache Avenue estate built by Bella Custom Homes.

CandysDirt.com has been following this exquisite Italian Mediterranean estate at 4926 Deloache Avenue in old Preston Hollow for sheer fascination of the build quality and architectural perfection. The home flawlessly embraces traditional classic architectural elements with transitional styling and modern essentials, all the elements that modern buyers of luxury real estate want. Listed at $13.95 million, this sprawling 1.645-acre estate clocks in at 14,179 square feet with seven bedrooms, eight full baths and five half baths, including a pool bath outside.

Not all luxury homebuilding companies are truly custom and even fewer will hold your hand and make the experience seamless, from first consultation meeting to the day you get your keys.

One of the reasons I love Bella Custom Homes is that their design and build process is completely custom. It is created to give homeowners a step-by-step, logical course of decisions and actions that is informative — and actually fun!

And why wouldn’t it be with the two people leading the company. Owner and president Tony Visconti has over 40 years in the industry and knows the luxury market inside and out — he understands what works and why. Vice president and lead interior designer Stacy Brotemarkle has over 20 years of experience and brings her project management and aesthetic skills to every project, leading a team to get it done on time and in budget. Together, they create the Bella Custom Homes experience.

“What we offer is unlike any other builder in North Texas,” said Visconti.

Stacy Brotemarkle comes by her passion for homebuilding through a deep family history. Her grandfather and father were builders, her grandmother in real estate, and her uncle an architect.

“My mom has a picture of me at two years old sitting on a stack of plywood on one of my dad’s job sites,” Brotemarkle laughs. “I was 12 when I told my family I wanted to be an interior designer and I stuck with that desire and got my BFA degree from the University of North Texas, along with a minor in engineering technology.”

Stacy Brotemarkle

As vice president and lead interior designer for Bella Custom Homes, Brotemarkle offers a winning combination of knowledge, experience, and perspective to designing, building, and serving her clients. She has worked on over 200 custom luxury homes in the North Texas market, collaborating with future homeowners from day one.

“It’s so beneficial for interior designers to be at the planning stages because we can think far down the line and ask the kind of questions that will avoid future headache — where is furniture going to go? Will the door swing into the wall? Where are those drapery panel going to stack?” she said. “The earlier in the process that you start thinking about these things, the easier the whole process is because we use a building block process and all selections are in a chronological process for our clients.”

Bella Custom Homes’ clients get the benefit of working with a licensed interior designer to assist them throughout the whole process, from designing to building their new dream home. The designer works with the clients from designing the house plans to “specing” the project.

Once construction starts, the real fun begins. The designer is at all the on-site design meetings, takes clients to the showrooms to make decorative selections, and visits the site to make sure everything gets implemented in a way that translates the clients’ vision to reality. The results speak for themselves.

Building a home is not hard at all. But for many, it can be overwhelming to think of getting it all structurally sound, then pulling it all together for a flawless, coordinated finish.

That’s one reason why we are so selective with our CandysDirt.com Preferred Home Builders: they are screened and curated, and on our site by invitation only. Most have been building homes for years, and these are the same people we would use if we ourselves were building a house. One of our favorites: Bella Custom Homes.

Kevin Bradshaw knows the difficulty of finding a good home builder. Fortunately, he found a great one: Tony Visconti of Bella Custom Homes, who is celebrating 25 years of custom build-to-suit homes this year.

Like most successful businessmen, Kevin is a discriminating client. The senior vice president of the western division of FM Global, a commercial property insurance company, Kevin has a background in engineering and knows a lot about home building from the beginning. We caught up with him to see how he decided on Bella to build his home in the McKinney community of Craig Ranch Estates: (more…)

Stacy Brotemarkle remembers when she was a 12-year-old, tagging along with her parents while house hunting. For most kids, hours and hours of showings and trekking through home after home can be boring and tedious, but Brotemarkle remembers it all fondly.

“I said, ‘Mom, I want to be an interior designer,’ ” Brotemarkle recalled. “She said, ‘Yeah, sure, and last week you wanted to be a singer.’ ”

But unlike her musical ambitions, interior design stuck with her through high school and onward. Right after graduating high school, Brotemarkle went to work for Hawkins-Welwood Homes, later graduating from the University of North Texas with a BFA in interior design. Today, Brotemarkle is the vice president and lead interior designer at Bella Custom Homes, one of the foremost luxury custom builders in North Texas.

Strait Lane

The estate at 10620 Strait Ln. is one of three currently represented by Dave Perry-Miller Real Estate on this stories, exclusive street.

Strait Lane is one of the most fabulous and famous streets in Dallas. It’s home to a veritable Who’s Who of residents, from Margot and Ross Perot to Jessica and Dirk Nowitzki. They live in some of the city’s most impressive and esteemed estates. Buy a home on Strait Lane and not only have you arrived, you’ve probably arrived in a Learjet.

I’ve found three extraordinary Strait Lane residences represented by Dave Perry-Miller Real Estate. They’re within a half mile of each other on the most exclusive stretch of the street in Old Preston Hollow.

Conveniently located only 15 minutes from downtown Dallas, this close-in arrangement is why some of the city’s most distinguished residents make Strait Lane their chosen address.

“Some of Dallas’ top-rated private schools, shopping, and dining are within minutes of Strait Lane and it has estates ranging from 1 to 25 acres — you have a country-like setting in this location,” said Realtor Ryan Streiff with Dave Perry-Miller Real Estate. “The homes are deeply set back and those on the east side have beautiful creek views. There’s also an off-duty Dallas police officer patrolling these gated properties, offering a very secure setting.”
