The voice of the Texas Rangers Eric Nadel has listed his long-time home for sale

Like an unofficial soundtrack of Texas summers, if you’ve listened to a Texas Rangers game anytime in the last four decades, you’ve heard the voice of Eric Nadel. Now the Hall of Fame broadcaster is parting with a different kind of home field — the North Dallas home that he and his wife, Jeannie, rebuilt and renovated more than 15 years ago.

The Nadels purchased the 1965-built home in 1989. (That would be the same year he called Nolan Ryan’s 5,000th career strikeout on Aug. 22, 1989.) In 2007, they packed up and took the home down to the studs for a full remodel, practically reconstructing the home from the ground up to their own specifications.

The 3,362-square-foot home sits on a .4093-acre cul-de-sac lot in Les Jardins, a small established North Dallas neighborhood near Preston Hollow. Many homes here have been renovated or expanded over the years as buyers look for larger lots and mature trees in close-in locations. Cul-de-sac lots like this one on De Bercy Court are particularly hard to find in the area.

The result is a Southwestern-inspired residence with four bedrooms, five baths, and a backyard designed for entertaining. Oh, and separate his and her primary baths and closets. Listing agent Justin Croft mentioned that detail in passing, but any long-married couple will tell you that might be one of the more practical luxury (and sanity) features you can build into a house.

The open-concept layout connects the cedar-beamed living room to the kitchen, multiple dining areas, and ultimately the backyard, where mature trees provide privacy and a winding lap pool anchors the outdoor space. Nadel said his favorite feature of the home is the view from his home office, which overlooks the yard and pool.

Over the years, the home became a gathering place. The Nadels regularly hosted house concerts with touring musicians and frequently used the home for parties and events.

In 2012, Nadel brought that love of music and community together when he launched his first birthday benefit concert, which has raised money for local nonprofits including Focus on Teens, Cafe Momentum, and the Grant Halliburton Foundation. Nadel will host the 14th annual Birthday Benefit at the Longhorn Ballroom on May 14 featuring Brooklyn’s Sammy Rae & the Friends and Bay Area standout Chuck Prophet and His Cumbia Shoes.

Nadel joined the Rangers in 1979 and was inducted into the Texas Rangers Hall of Fame in 2012. In 2014, he received the Ford C. Frick Award from the National Baseball Hall of Fame — the highest honor in baseball broadcasting. He is turning 75 this May and is now in his 48th year with the franchise.

After more than three decades in the home, the Nadels are now handing it off to a new owner — someone who will inherit not just a great remodeled North Dallas house, but a place that has seen decades of Dallas history, baseball seasons, and more than a few parties along the way.

Justin Croft of Berkshire Hathaway HS PenFed has listed 10612 De Bercy Ct. for $1.45 million.
