Art + Color: 5th Annual Dwell With Dignity Event Returns to Texas Counter Fitters Showroom

On March 12, Art + Color returns to Texas Counter Fitters, transforming the Richardson showroom into one of Dallas’ most compelling art events of the season. Forty-five original works — spanning abstract, figurative, multimedia, and sculpture — will line the aisles, presented against sweeping slabs of natural stone.

The juxtaposition is striking: bold canvases framed by veined marble, onyx, and quartzite. Together, it creates an intentional rhythm that feels more gallery than showroom.

Now in its fifth year, Art + Color offers a first look at artwork that will later appear at The Studio, Dwell with Dignity’s highly anticipated designer pop-up (formerly Thrift Studio). For the first time, every piece will be available for silent auction before being integrated into designer vignettes at the April fundraiser.

Curated by Art Chair Kendall Bardin, this year’s roster includes gallery-represented artists, emerging voices, and longtime Art + Color supporters.

“Kendall was very intentional about creating a mix of styles and price points,” says Dwell with Dignity Executive Director Teresa Charnock. With more than $80,000 in donated artwork, the collection directly supports the nonprofit’s mission: designing and furnishing homes for families transitioning out of homelessness.

What distinguishes Art + Color is its setting.

“Having the space to properly showcase the art — to give it the respect and attention it deserves — has been incredible,” says Teresa. “Texas Counter Fitters’ willingness to open its showroom year after year allows us to present the collection at a completely different level.”

While the Art + Color Party is celebratory, its purpose is deeply meaningful. Proceeds benefit families rebuilding their lives. Many are survivors of domestic violence.

“When our families receive their keys, they walk into a move-in ready home. Furniture, linens, kitchen supplies, groceries — even original art.” Teresa explains.

More than fill a wall, art affirms identity. It says you belong here.

“We don’t just want to just give families a place to stay,” she adds. “We want to create a home that reflects who they are.”

For founder Chris Blackburn, Art + Color reflects Texas Counter Fitters’ long-standing commitment to art, design, and community.

“Seeing the Art + Color grow over the past five years has been extremely rewarding,” says Chris. “This event is a testament to the designers, artists, and supporters who continue to make a lasting impact for families in need.”
