Our Favorite Preston Hollow Contemporary Has a New Look!

The refresh on this Preston Hollow contemporary is so dramatic that I had to do a double-take, even though I’ve written about it before, not only once, but twice. It’s changed that much.
As far as housing goes, there is really nothing more exciting than a multi-million-dollar home that has undergone just the right tweaks. Why?
Well, it’s easy to build something new. There are no existing walls or staircases that get in your way. You basically dream it up, design it, and build it. A refresh, however, presents challenges at every turn. It not only takes knowledge but creativity. Buyers are mercurial. What they wanted even last year is not what they want this year. So, when you are selling, at any price point, you have to be on top of market trends and put the right product out there. Believe me, it can’t be your home anymore — it HAS TO BE a product.

When we first laid eyes on this Preston Hollow contemporary in 2022, it was truly impressive. The property had already undergone a significant remodel, with the interior completely rebuilt and the façade transformed. It took a year to bring the 13,104-square-foot home into 2022, and the results were undeniably impressive.
However, with a 2022 finish date, it’s important to note that design choices were made in 2021. Now, as we approach 2026, design choices have evolved yet again. But this Preston Hollow contemporary, with its principal suite featuring the most striking change, is perfectly in tune with today’s trends.

“The primary suite was completely gutted and redone,” Dave Perry-Miller realtor Charles Gregory said. “The closet was enlarged, and a first-floor library was turned into a sitting room for the principal bedroom. The former sitting room was used to create a primary closet that is two-and-a-half times the size of the original, which was already generous.”

Apparently, I’m not the only one who did a double-take. There are still five bedrooms, five full bathrooms, and three powder baths. The very cool exercise area is still there, as are the media room and office space. However, nothing changes the look of a house more than staging, especially when it’s done by the George Bass Stage & Design team. Bass has a history of working with the home, and he created an entirely new look for it.
“George did a great job,” Gregory said. “I think it’s some of the best work he’s ever done. I had an office tour last Monday, and even those who had been here when it was on the market before were amazed at how different the house looks.”

I’m always stunned when a seller with a home valued over a million dollars does not understand the power of staging and how it can transform the look and feel of a home. When this house was staged the first time, it was done in accordance with the client’s wishes. It was lovely to be sure, but you really have to let professionals have complete creative control.
“There were changes to the home, so we went back to the drawing board to create a new, updated impression,” Bass said. “We brightened it up with the tried and true formula of light colors and neutrality, yet with warm accents. It’s a fresh approach, and it feels crisp and new.”
The Preston Hollow contemporary is gated, so it’s incredibly private and secure. Sited on a bit over an acre, there is every outdoor amenity you can imagine. From a large terrace overlooking the 22-foot-long pool to a sports court and a 2,300-square-foot, two-story pool house, I can’t imagine what more anyone could want.

When considering location, this is one of the most coveted areas of Preston Hollow. It’s in the Strait Lane corridor and around the corner from the only home in Dallas designed by Philip Johnson, so yes, you are in good company!
