It’s Official: Collin County and MetroTex Realtors Approve Merger to Form North Texas’ Largest Association

It’s official: two of the largest Realtor associations in North Texas have voted to merge, creating a unified organization representing nearly 40,000 real estate professionals.

Members of the Collin County Area Realtors (CCAR) and the MetroTex Association of Realtors approved the proposed consolidation that’s been in the works since early this year. The merger now positions the newly combined association as the largest in North Texas — and one of the most influential Realtor associations in the country.

“We’re not just merging boards; we’re amplifying our voice,” said MetroTex President Johnny Mowad in a statement. “Together, MetroTex and CCAR will form one of the strongest real estate networks in the country.”

The final member vote follows unanimous approval from both associations’ boards of directors and months of due diligence, town hall sessions, and Q&A events held across the region. Both organizations say the consolidation is rooted in a shared vision to enhance member services, regional advocacy, and professional development.

What’s Changing — and What’s Not

The combined entity will retain the MetroTex Association of Realtors name and keep both the Plano and Irving offices open. No layoffs are expected. In fact, the merger is expected to reduce per-member costs by eliminating redundant operations, and early messaging to members emphasized that 2026 dues and MLS fees would default to the lower of the two rates—unless adjusted by NTREIS.

“This merger is more than a milestone — it’s a launchpad for new benefits and possibilities,” said CCAR CEO Mary Leidy. “Together, we’re shaping a stronger, smarter future for Realtors and the communities we serve.”

The newly merged association plans to:

  • Strengthen political advocacy at the local, state, and national levels
  • Expand training, education, and certification offerings
  • Streamline operations for smarter investment in tools, technology, and support
  • Deliver more value with reduced duplication and wider regional coverage

MetroTex CEO Justin Landon will lead the combined organization and emphasized the group’s focus on delivering a seamless transition.

“We’re approaching this with focus and care to ensure a smooth experience for every member,” Landon said. “We are committed to being a national leader among Realtor associations. Our DFW real estate professionals deserve no less.”

Navarro County Board Vote Still to Come

One more piece remains in the merger puzzle: the Navarro County Board of Realtors (NCBOR), which represents around 100 members in Navarro and Limestone counties. As CandysDirt.com previously reported, NCBOR was a late addition to the proposed merger. If approved, it will join the newly merged association and operate under the same consolidated structure.
