2 of the Fastest Selling ZIP Codes in the Country Are Here in North Texas

Realtor.com has released its 2024 list of the fastest-selling ZIP codes in the U.S. and North Texas claims two cities on that list. Guess where these they are…. Nope, not in Dallas. Nah, not in Fort Worth. Think suburbs.

Give up? Realtor.com’s top 50 list names the 76021 ZIP code in the northern part of Bedford and 75028 in eastern Flower Mound as the two hottest markets in Texas. Bedford’s 76021 was ranked number 37, while Flower Mound was listed as number 40 in Realtor.com’s The Hottest Zip Codes of 2024.

Here’s Why

Obviously, Realtor.com has stats to back this up. The top 50 list “highlights the markets where homebuyers are shopping like crazy and making offers at record speed due to the areas’ affordability, excellent amenities, and other desirable attributes,” Margaret Heidenry writes for Realtor.com.

Proximity to DFW International Airport surely is one of the big draws for both of the top North Texas cities, but there are other reasons to buy there, too. Realtors know why.

“It’s no surprise to see Bedford and Flower Mound growing so fast, both are great places to live,” said Blake Barry, board president of Greater Fort Worth Association of Realtors. “In fact, the whole DFW area is booming due to its high quality of life and welcoming community. Here in Fort Worth, we added the second-most new residents of any major city last year, making us the 12th largest city in the U.S. It’s exciting to see more and more people call North Texas home.”

Both ZIP codes fall within the boundaries of desirable schools, said Realtors familiar with the areas, and the accessibility to both Dallas and Fort Worth are benefits, especially to two-career families.

76021 in Bedford

Realtor Gina Day recently sold this Bedford house in five days for its full listing price.

Found in the center of the Dallas-Fort Worth-Arlington triangle, Bedford’s 76021 median listing price so far this year is $425,000. Homes here spent about 25 days on market, Realtor.com data showed.

Bedford Realtor Gina Day with Day Real Estate says increasing property values year over year and the demand for one-story houses, which are easily found in 76021, has driven sales. Properties in this ZIP code, she said, have been selling in three to four days.

“Most people keep their properties up around here,” said Day, herself a 76021 resident and a product of the Hurst-Euless-Bedford ISD. “We have curb appeal. Most people care about their properties, and that’s really nice.”

She thinks there are multiple reasons to live in 76021, and school ratings are among the most important.

“In Bedford we have some of the best schools,” the L.D. Bell High School alum said. “I always knew in the back of my mind that this is where I want to be and that it’s a good investment. Realtor.com confirms everything I ever thought.”

75028 in Flower Mound

Smart city planning, popular schools, and a great location has fueled the popularity of 75028, Realtor Brooke Hunt says.

Located in Denton County, Flower Mound’s 75028 is filled with many 1990s- or newer-built homes with a median listing price of $584,000.

It’s Flower Mound’s “smart growth plan” in the 1990s that set the scene for 75028’s popularity, according to Flower Mound resident and Realtor Brooke Hunt with Keller Williams Realty.

The city had the foresight early in its building surge, she said, to put a moratorium on building permits to make sure the proper infrastructure was in place. The 75028 ZIP code, found on the major thoroughfare of Long Prairie Road, was the first in Flower Mound. The average home price there currently is $541,000, she said, and the average days on the market is 29.

“It is definitely affordable, but all of Flower Mound is still a big draw,” she said.

Again, the schools figure heavily into the quick-selling equation. Hunt, who has served as the 2009 chair of the Texas Realtors Association and VP of the National Realtors Association, said many of her corporate transfer clients ask specifically for Flower Mound schools.

“The draw of the schools has been huge,” she said. “Clients ask specifically for one of the two high schools, Marcus and Flower Mound. Even those without kids know it affects resale.”

One more thing makes 75028 — you won’t find another one in the U.S.A.

“There’s not another Flower Mound in the country,” Hunt said. “We are the only one.”

Number One Is…

So which ZIP code came in at number one on the list? For the second year straight it’s 43230, the Columbus, Ohio suburb of Gahanna, OH, Businesses like Intel and Google are booming there, and Realtor.com calls Gahanna a “quaint suburb” with big-city perks, good schools, and friendly people.

Sound like familiar traits, North Texas suburbanites?
