North Texas Home Inspections

Never let it be said that home inspectors are all business all the time. I think we’ve established in this column that we have a well rounded sense of humor. It’s been a while sense we shared a few laughs just for fun. So this week’s column is just that: three videos from North Texas home inspections that made me giggle, and I hope you do too.

Engineering At Its Finest

This is one of those chicken-egg situations for me. Like, did they put the gate in first or was it the gas meter and the planter?

A Safe Haven For All

Speaking of chickens and eggs, did you know that, depending on the city you live in, chicken coops are considered outbuildings and may be subject to building codes? They also may be covered by your home insurance policy, but they are not, according to a recent law, subject to property tax.

Playing Possum

Or actually not playing possum in this case. Poor Inspector Cody, trying to do a Wood Destroying Insect Inspection, just investigating the giant piece of fence lying around. (That would be a conducive condition for wood-destroying insects). Or I guess I should say, poor possum who got unceremoniously awoken from his daytime snooze in what was probably a nice dark hiding spot. He was probably too dazed to remember to play possum. Anyway, don’t leave pieces of fence or other wood piled up in your yard, especially right next to the house, as it’s an invitation for WDIs and other pests and vermin.

I hope these humorous home inspection moments gave you a laugh like they did me. But of course, while we find humor in the weird and wild foibles that our work sometimes brings our way, know that we take it seriously, and our clients getting the most knowledge they can about a home is why we do what we do.
