This Mark Molthan Mediterranean in Old Preston Hollow Will Help You Live Better and Longer

Share News:

This is a home unlike any other in Dallas, or for that matter, Texas. Not only is it beautiful, loaded with the highest quality appliances, electronics, architectural and design elements, exteriors and more, but it is also one of the only homes I have seen that focuses on health, wellness, and get this, LONGEVITY.

That’s right, this is a home that will help you live longer. Plus, it’s in the best neighborhood ever! There is a gym upstairs, and a full-blown wellness room downstairs with a wellness studio, sauna, cold plunge, and even pop-up yoga/pilates benches.

Yes, we at candysdirt.com focus on wellness, too. Which is why, when walking the Doodles — I swear they keep us younger AND snarf up all the carbs for us — we saw that 6606 Belmead, just down the block, had hit the market. We watched this home being constructed starting in late 2012. I was excited as the builder was Mark Molthan, a sterling name in the building industry. And a Mark Molthan home in your neighborhood means values are headed up.

Mark once told me, in an interview early on his career, he wants to build homes his children and grandchildren will point out with pride. He knocked it out of the ballpark with 6606 Belmead.

The Home as Spa, Gym, and Wellness Center

This house is so loaded it’s like having Cooper Aerobics Center down the street: sauna, cinema, fully-stocked exercise room/gym, red light therapy bed, steam shower, game room, and pool spa.

And the entertainment potential is huge — you could practically have a political convention here.

“The gym is upstairs, with views of the property to keep you pumping, the wellness center is downstairs so you can go in when you first wake up, or before going to bed,” says listing agent Caroline Atwell with @Properties Christies.

The home is 9,221 square feet on almost one acre of land in one of the city’s few hidden secret residential pockets, the “honeypot” of Hillcrest Estates. Very much like the verdant acreages in Old Preston Hollow, maybe more exclusive, this area is a handful of estates on minimum one-acre lots (measurements are taken from the middle of the street). Once sprawling ranch homes, Ricks Circle, Wander Lane, with Belmead in the center are lined with custom-built homes and estates. The neighborhood is also home to several high-net-worth individuals, but my lips are sealed.

The home at 6608 Belmead is a Mediterranean, clay-tiled roof estate with the signature setback for this neighborhood — no sidewalks, huge leafy lots and so many trees you will be shaded 99% of the time outdoors. And you will live outdoors: this is the most walking neighborhood in Dallas, especially with dogs. If biking suits you, it’s right here with access to the beautiful Northaven Trail. Of note: the previous owners, who custom-built the home, once told me they were both marathon runners and chose this location precisely because of the trail.

This Home Lives Tall and Loaded With Sunlight

Inside, the dream continues but better than you can imagine. The foyer is grand, where two-story living room with vaulted ceilings soars high with tall transom windows to let sunshine flow in.

The kitchen is open with one of the largest islands I have seen, allowing for full-spread entertaining amid the top-line appliances, Butler’s pantry, and massive storage. Check out the custom-chiseled handiwork in the dining room ceiling.

The breakfast room is flanked by more storage and the entire area opens to the patio/pool with push-back accordian-style stacking glass doors and automatic shade screens. Hello, indoor/outdoor living.

The home really has five bedrooms, all ensuite and unique — two upstairs even have a Jack and Jill loft the kids will LOVE. But the fifth bedroom downstairs has been transformed into a state-of-the art wellness studio with the aforementioned sauna, cold plunge, and red light bed. This is very close to the primary.

That primary suite showcases a private patio, large sitting area, fireplace, spa bath & steam shower, his and hers vanities, and a closet the size of Manhattan with a secret door to the study.

Upstairs is the game room, full-scope cinema, fully equipped gym, and those loft-sharing bedrooms that any kid is sure to fall in love with. The backyard pool is long and deep enough to stay cool even on 100-plus degree days. The home has a four-car garage accessed from the front with a gate.

The home is more than spectacular, but the location is the true prize: hidden, secluded, exclusive, private security patrol, and even more quiet than Preston Hollow. Plus you can get to any part of town quickly via the Dallas North Tollway, Central or LBJ. And don’t get me started on the magnificent shopping nearby and even walkable.

Caroline Atwell of @properties Christies has listed 6606 Belmead for $6.55 million. And if the house wasn’t already appealing enough, stop by on Sunday, Aug. 25 from 1 to 4 p.m. for a “Football and Frozens” open house party. There will be a Dallas Cowboys Ticket Giveaway, frozen margaritas, Clinic Concierge B12 Shots, and light bites.
