Wyman House New Build in Westcliff Hits all the Right Notes

It has been a while since we checked in at Westcliff, a low-key, somewhat under-the-radar neighborhood just south of Texas Christian University. And what better choice than a new build in this older neighborhood with mature trees and mostly Midcentury ranch-style houses?

This marked my first introduction to Wyman House, a youngish building firm with an already healthy portfolio of soft contemporary houses employing high-end materials and finish out.

Built in 2021, 3801 South Hills Circle is a comely two-story, composed of blocks of traditional form with minimal ornamentation employing stucco and stone. The protruding entrance bay is given additional emphasis by its slim verticality and height. The foyer gives a preview of the quality of construction throughout the house. Entered through high-end metal doors, the entry is defined by wide plank white oak chevron patterned floors. At the right is an office with a closet which could be converted into an additional bedroom.

The plan of the five-bedroom, three-and-one-half-bath home spans 4,273 square feet featuring a large living room with beamed ceilings and a handsome stone fireplace open to the kitchen. A large stone waterfall island and a 60-inch professional-grade gas range are among the special features. The dining room to the right of the kitchen is enhanced by large, identical windows on three sides framing lovely garden views.

Extras on the ground floor include a pretty little bar with cobalt tiled walls and a deluxe laundry room.

The primary suite is downstairs and includes a posh marble bath with a large glassed-in shower stall and soaker tub below the window. Beyond is an enormous closet with a central packing table.

Upstairs are two bedrooms with a shared bath and one bedroom with a private ensuite bath. In addition, there is a bonus room currently being used as a playroom.

The house sits on an almost half-acre corner lot and has a covered outdoor living area with a built-in grill. A gated drive leads to a three-car garage.
