Jenn Thatcher Launches ZEBRA – Clean-Living Essentials With Black and White Ingredients

Creating safe, family care products is the driving force behind ZEBRA.

ZEBRA founder Jenn Thatcher personifies the commonly used idiom “one thing leads to another.” When all three of her children were diagnosed with non-genetic illnesses, the visionary Dallas mom took matters into her own hands.

“I wanted to create a brand that was free from the harmful chemicals that come at us from every direction. Products that do the job they’re intended to do, but also help the body detox,” she said. “People shouldn’t have to compromise between safety and effectiveness.”

Now that she had her “why,” Thatcher tackled the “how.” The biggest challenge: finding world-class chemists and manufacturers that met her stringent standards.

“Getting ingredients in-house was a lengthy process. Some suppliers didn’t want to meet my requirements.” she said.

Her first two products to hit the market, toothpaste and deodorant, went through 200 and 350 rounds of testing respectively.

Perseverance paid off. Every offering lives up to the company name.

“Zebras are black and white. There are no gray areas.”

Thatcher tapped Austin-based design firm Ptarmak to collaborate on package design. “I’d seen their work in the food items I buy. They’re a beautiful group of people who totally understood our brand.”

The results speak for themselves. ZEBRA’s packaging is black and white, of course, but also clean, simple, and elegant. “We wanted to convey that we’re not just high performance, but luxury, too.”

Deodorants, for instance, come in four alluring scents. Organic mint toothpaste tablets are naturally sweetened with xylitol, which safely reduces decay-causing bacteria while helping to maintain a neutral pH level.

A clean laundry detergent will launch later this year.

Cleaning sprays, body lotion and skin care are next on the agenda. According to Thatcher, products are manufactured in America and support local communities and sustainable practices.

This isn’t the first time the multifaceted mom has been featured in CandysDirt.com. Back in 2016, circumstances once again provided the inspiration to pursue a new path — this time, from Realtor to self-taught and self-made artist.

“A listing I had didn’t have much on the walls, so I painted a huge blank canvas. The house didn’t sell, but people kept asking about the art,” said Thatcher. The piece sold within minutes — not to mention, garnered a 25-person waiting list.

Painting served an even bigger purpose. “It helped keep me busy while I was dealing with my son’s brain tumor diagnosis and surgery.”

Thatcher’s art also made money – enough to finance the launch of her new company.

Thanks to a large group of influencers already on board, news about ZEBRA is spreading. “Reaction to the brand has been amazing. It’s very validating that a natural holistic dentist thinks my oral care is the best in the market.”

For Thatcher, providing an alternative to what she says are deceptively marketed home and personal care products is more than a mission — it’s a calling. “We’re all about transparency. There’s nothing out there like us. Just like the zebra, we want to be known as a different animal.”
