Find Your Dream Downtown Dallas Dwelling With These Farmers Market Townhomes

Downtown Dallas is hot. More and more people are moving to the North Texas region and are finding urban life not only convenient but luxurious. When you can find produce fresh from the fields in the Farmers Market, art right from the artist in the Dallas Arts District, and music as live as the city in Deep Ellum all in about two square miles — why live anywhere else?

That’s what Matthew Edwards of Dave Perry-Miller Real Estate is saying — and he would know. The urban living expert has three fabulous Farmers Market townhomes available now, all of which are this week’s Highlight Homes of The Week sponsored by Dallas mortgage banker Lisa Peters of Cardinal Financial.

“The downtown Dallas core population, including the Farmers Market, has grown to about 15,120 from the 2010 population of 5,291,” Edwards said. “Some of the reasons for all the growth are the new luxury condos and commercial buildings being converted to apartments for the housing market. But there are also five new parks, new restaurants, retail, and the quality of the new housing.”

That’s the central theme of these three Farmers Market townhomes offered by Edwards.

Of course, a lot of the growth in downtown Dallas has to do with big investments from developers. None is bigger than what Todd Interests has done for the East Quarter.

“Todd Interests are the luxury apartment developers in the East Quarter, which is next to the Farmers Market,” Edwards said. While there are many new luxury apartment developments in the Farmers Market — and many more planned for the future — these listings offer an opportunity to buy in an area that’s seeing appreciation.

The exterior of 2134 Canton St. may look mundane, but inside you’ll find luxury finishes and updates.
The townhome at 2134 Canton St. feels like new construction.

“The Hunts have Reunion Lawn, Hoque Global has Newpark Dallas, and the Kay Bailey Hutchison Convention Center is getting an update, to name a few,” Edwards said. “The beautiful Hardwood Park just opened up last fall, which is the new neighborhood park, and the charming Farmers Market, which is very festive every weekend, is a big draw. The neighborhood also has walkability to four other parks and many restaurants and retail.”

That’s a lot of momentum for downtown Dallas, and with so much happening and much more in the forecast, these three Farmers Market townhomes offer an opportunity to get on the train before it leaves the station.

“My new listings are all exceptional,” Edwards said. Interestingly, all of these Farmers Market townhomes have rooftop decks and 12-foot ceilings.

“The townhome at 2134 Canton St. has been totally renovated, which includes a new living area and office space on the fourth floor. It looks like new construction and has unobstructed views of downtown from all the front windows, the balcony, and then of course the rooftop deck,” he said. “It also has access to a fabulous gated community pool.”

Likewise, for those looking to live in a more walkable environment without having to downsize too much, they’ll appreciate Edwards’ listing at 2133 Canton.

“This townhome is close to 3,000 square feet and has more of a modern style,” he said. “It’s a corner unit with great architecture, beautiful trees, a courtyard entrance, an exceptional floorplan, an oversized garage, new hardwoods in two of the bedrooms, and an exceptionally large rooftop deck with stunning downtown views.”

If the thought of a rooftop deck with views of downtown Dallas sounds like your dream, then Edwards has a listing just for you.

“The townhome at 2167 Marilla St. has a unique floorplan,” Edwards said. “It has two rooftop decks — one with an outdoor kitchen with downtown views and one with new Astroturf with Farmers Market views. It also has a beautiful gated community pool.”

The townhomes are pretty nice. It’s just a shame the city destroyed what was the farmers market, it’s just an overpriced junk now and very little fresh produce!

I’ve personally witnessed the growth of this area for the past 6 years and also Matthew’s expertise. He is a superb realtor.
